Recent Colors used.
In the materials palette there uis a set of colors under the heading Recently Used.
Try this
1 New document
2, select one color for the stroke color and a different color for the Fill eg red and green.
3. Select paintbrush and left click to make a red mark, change to a different shade of red and make another mark . Repeat a number of times.
As you do this the Recently Used is updated . You can also see this if you righ click on either the stroke or fill boxes.

Now try with the Right mouse button - choose a green, make a mark, choose another green make a mark, and repeat.
The recently used colors is ignored at least on my machine in both the running Recently Used and also the Right click recently used .
Can any body else repeat this "bug"
Tested with X6 and both left and right click are updated in the recently used colors
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Yes, it happens to me too Paul. It has been reported and hopefully will be fixed in the SP. I say hopefully!

Hi everyone,

Here's my feedback on PSPX7 trial version.

First of all, I'm really impressed by the feature set. I only use the editing part for photo post-processing. PSPX7 comes with the critical feature Gimp does not provide: adjustment layers. Welcome to the non-destructive editing!

Now for the not so good part: performance. I usually manipulate 16 MPx pictures, either 8 or 16 bits/channel. My workflow is essentially centered on adding (adjustment) layers, apply a global change, then use the mask to only make the change visible in some areas of the picture. To do so, I use small to very big brush strokes with hardness set very low. Unfortunately, the brush tool is hopelessly slow once the brush is big (say over 100, maybe 200 px diameter, which is NOT big compared to the picture size). I sometimes can get 1 - 3-second lag between pen move and painting effect, then a total lock (PSP is processing) once I release the mouse (or the pen). Looking at a performance monitor, the brush tool only uses one of my two cores (whereas the chalk tool for instance uses both). So I don't feel like moving to a big quad-core CPU would solve anything. Also things seem get even slower when using a pressure sensitive pen (vs. mouse), but I cannot prove it.

One other issue, but maybe it's just me, is that it's impossible to bind keystrokes for brush radius, opacity, and hardness. Radius is fine (there's a alt+pen/mouse drag), hardness and opacity though… Painful but not totally blocking. I also could not find a binding to reset the foreground/background color to black and white (read: reset to work on a mask…).

Those usability issues are things I can live with. The performance issue though is a deal breaker and I clearly cannot buy PSPX7, even though I have to admit that the cost/feature ration is really impressive.

Please, please boost the performance of the brush tool, then you'll get yourself a happy customer (probably quite a few of them, actually…).

For the record: computer is dual core, 3GHz, 6GB of ram, OS and software and picture on a SSD. Tablet is a Wacom Intuos 3.

Yeah ok, I'm an aerospace engineer and have used PSP since the early days of Jasc v3, and use PSP for technical images (lots of vector objects), also DXT textures (aircraft Sim) and terrain/scenery BMPs. Also take a LOT of photos with Canon cameras!!

Mostly use PNG for general saving, PSPIMAGE for layered images, and JPG for exports. Sometimes a GIF.

Have purchased X3 and X4, and ran trials of X5 and X6.. however at least one of those versions CRASHED repeatedly after installing. See previous posts here. I use PSP almost every day, and sometimes for HOURS during any one day.

X7 installed ok and has a LOT more features than X4. So far like it, and it's stable. It DID CRASH once last night while manipulating some MASK and ADJ layers. Grrr!!

What was fixed?

1)There was an alloying NAVIGATION palette bug that was fixed. Whenever moving images to another folder, the folder tree would 'roll-up' and that was a PAIN. Now it stays expanded until I'm done sorting.

2) there was another 'fix' but can't recall right now.. this is only the second day running X7

Some annoyances

1) One major annoyance is.. the video subsystem cannot handle panning or zooming images in real time. The plan is to UPGRADE to Win7 64-bit and install a GeForce video card. Also need to look at VIDEO DRIVER setting for X7 to optimized scrolling, panning and zooming in REAL time.

2) There is slight video/draw corruption around the edges of X7 and tool palettes. These are artifacts that disappear when redrawing or 'moving' the frame slightly.

Running Win7 32-bit on a small pc (w/integrated Intel graphics chip) and as stated above.. need to upgrade to X7, 64 with Nvidia graphics!

What is you recommendation for a graphics subsystem that can HANDLE PANNING images in real time?

Have another two possible MANAGE to EDIT loading bugs (loading images into Edit from Manage.)

1) When editing groups of multiple images (by selecting thumbnails in Manage and clicking EDIT tab) the first group load [into Edit] ok. However, after those files are complete, saved, and closed.. then going back to MANAGE and selecting another group of files, the previous group is loaded back into the EDIT workspace.

2) With a group of sequential files loaded into EDIT (in Tab mode) e.g. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, etc., after editing and saving the first image and closing its Tab, the EDITOR jumps to the Last file in the group (to the far right end), not to the next image. The work-around is to leave each edited image open, and the next image in sequence can be selected.

Hope those issues are clear.. will try to clarify by editing text above.

I tried doing what you describe and did not have a problem - chose a number of images in Manage, went to edit. Deleted those from edit, went back to Manage, selected a couple, selected Edit and only the last selection showed up. You may be forgetting to clear your first selection before doing the next one

I am still unable to run the installer for the PSPX7 trial. I get Fatal Error during installation.

Windows 7, 64-bit. I have been using PSP9 for a long time (have a disk). It will run with 64-bit Win7, but Windows throws a fit and changes the desktop color scheme to Windows 7 Basic. I've tried various "solutions" to this problem and finally learned to live with it. I would still very much like to give PSPX7 a try.

I posted about this issue when I first attempted installation of the trial in mid-September 2014. I was contacted by Simone of Corel tech support who said some systems were seeing the same problem. She indicated a fix of the executable file would be available in mid-October. Tried again today and still got the fatal error.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There ist simply one answer to what I don't like :

I don't like to pay money for bug fixes and minor features added to PSP every and every year...

X7 is running ok on my little Optiplex XE. Would still like to see a way to IMPORT toolbar settings when upgrading to a new version. Been asking for that for years! As it stands now, it's too much effort to customize X7 by opening X4 / X7 side-by-side. Hence the default toolbars remain in X7 Trial.

There's often severe video corruption when using the new Smart Photo Fix. Its tool dialog/window becomes unrecoverably disoriented and must be closed. The color picker is odd and takes some getting used to. The Info panel doesn't have the information I need handy enough, or it must be resized to see long text strings or dates. There's a LOT of wasted space there, and i think every window (and sub-window) needs more filename and path info, or at least the ability to hover (mouse)-over to get that info QUICK. So the INFO panel needs to be improved IMHO. Improve usability when editing multiple images from multiple folders!! Leave SPF be and update Info.

THE INFO I NEED TO SEE quickly and easily is..
* File date
* File path (of parent folder)
* File size in pixels
* File size in KB

Oh, and don't get rid of the MANAGE workspace. It's most useful.

X7 has some kool new features, and that's GOOD.. especially since recently picking up a Canon SX50 mega-zoom camera. :D
When the trial runs out in 10 days, I'll go back to using X4 until SP1 comes out, or Corel sends an X7 promo code to order with.

Please don't comment if you don't have X7. Thanks.
I have the trial version and few picture frames, I can't find info on what picture frames would be available if I purchase.

It would help if there was a listing of all symbols used. For example, I have a small colored balloon in the corner of some images and don't have a clue what it is.
Thanks

Just downloaded, one nights use so way too soon to have issues. Installed fine and is working with perfectly acceptable speed so far on a pretty low spec'd laptop so that's a good sign!

Only comments so far are that I like to use keyboard shortcuts (like + - for zoom in/out) but haven't found any for re-sizing the makeover (spot healer) tool. I use that a lot and sliders aren't my favourite. I can put the cursor into the size value box then use the up/down arrow keys but that's a little bit of a faff.

The key thing I really need to understand is how to attach an icc profile to an image for sending to my printers. I sent a test image to them which looked good but was not converted to their paper profile (which I thought I had done).

Any pointers to where I can get a walkthrough how to do this would be gratefully received. Hopefully there is a bunch of stuff on this forum!

I'm not sure if anyone has answered this question, so I'm going to ask anyway!

I am a long time of PSP X but have downloaded a trial of X7 today, and am pleased so far....

However, I'm wondering if someone can answer this....

In X, when you opened an image, you'd have the tab at the top, with the minimise/maximised square (see first image), but in X7 I can't get that to occur on my images (see second image).

If anyone could tell me how to get that to happen, I'd be grateful.

Cheers!
