Sorry, but I just tried it on my system (MacBook Pro running Windows 8 under Parallels 9) and had no issue. Everything seemed to work properly.

Maybe it's a Windows XP problem then. I did find that I get the results I need by using "Uniform" so that's an option. I'm not quite sure what the difference is between "Uniform" and "Gaussian" except that maybe Gaussian has a slightly more random appearance.

I am currently running, on various machines, PSP X3, X4 and X6; I installed the X7 trial. WIndows 7 Professional, H97M/4790. Registered with email, but next dialog window is completely blank. Close blank dialog, "Enter serial/buy" dialog appears. Trial PSPX7 does not start. Had no problem installing X6 on same machine. Does PSPX7 require Flash Player (I have disabled Flash)? Does it need access to some "Google" web address (I have blocked all Google)? This is a Windows program. Is it trying to reach websites (intellitxt, servingsys, etc.) that I have blocked (I do not block Corel)? I would like to see the newest version of a program that I have purchased for more than a decade. Any thoughts? Thanks for your consideration.

I can verify Linda's problem and that it occurs with XP and not with Windows 7.

Glad to hear that I'm not alone. I just tried it again this morning thinking maybe it would work after a reboot of Windows but it still crashes X7. I got this message this morning:

Is anyone else being driven mad by that "Reset" button in the Resize dialog box? I click that stupid button every single time without thinking, LOL. They should have put it on the right, not where the OK button is supposed to be.

One more thing, that I also posted about on Michele's forum, is that the buttons for Minimize/Restore/Close on a maximized image are nearly invisible, especially if you're using the Dark Gray workspace scheme. Below are enlarged screenshots from each color scheme. I added actual size clips of those buttons so you can see how they really look. They're completely invisible in the Dark Gray scheme. You can only tell where they are if you move your cursor over that area which highlights them.

I have tried to download the X7 trial, but the file says PSPX6_TBYB30.EXE. This is from the X7 trial download button.

http://dev.paintshoppro.com/en/products ... fault.html

If I try to open the file it says do I want to install X6.

Update: Looks like they fixed it. Thanks.

Layer Drag and Drop is Damaged
1. In all versions of PSP, you can drag the layer thumbnail onto another image on the workspace (Untabbed docs) and you get a one click and drag copy and paste as new layer - not in X7 nada . no effect .

2. In all versions of PSP and not present in PS - you can drag a layer thumbnail into a blank part of the workspace and it makes a copy of that layer as a new image ie Copy and Paste as new image. Again this does not work.
3. This is also useful for where you have extracted an image or letters against a transparent background. In that case dragging and dropping to the workspace copies only the opaque material effectively doing a best crop and paste as new image.

This really does need to be fixed!

I need to know more about "magic fill" and the new "smart edge"

One good example is trying to cut out a face with masses of stray hair around it. Will either of these new tools enable me to do this ideally, perfectly?

Happy to go for it if it makes life easier<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<1
Thanks for any advice.
I would highly recommend you download a trial of X7 before buying it. You could then try to do the cutout you described. Personally, I have found Topaz ReMask to be an excellent tool for this type of task.
Topaz ReMask looks awesome!
Do I need to buy the full version $69.99 or is there a plug-in for PSP?
I know it´s not related to PSP but can I save the re-worked images as pspimage?
Eg with Face Filter 3 you cannot do so.

Topaz ReMask is a plug-in and it works nicely with PSP and other image editors that support 8bf plug-ins.

Yes, you can save your ReMask image as a pspimage file. The only way to use Topaz ReMask as a stand alone is if you also buy Topaz photoFXlab which will run ReMask and the other Topaz plug-ins.

You can download a trial of ReMask to see if you like it. Personally, I love it!!

I think this was an issue with X6 64 bit as well but X7 64bit will not find my scanner?

Is there a way around this or do I have to go back to 32 bit like I had to with X6

running X7 64bit on Windows 7 64bit

Thanks

and STILL the gif optimizer tool DOESN'T work with transparent gifs ??????
Why can't this be fixed? I for one have mentioned this in EVER version you have bought out.

I suppose I should be getting used to being ignored by now.

Are you using a 64 bit driver for the scanner? I gave up on my old scanner after going to windows 7 64 bit because Epson did not produce a 64 bit driver for it. I could find a third party driver that was usable but without allowing all functions. I decided to upgrade my scanner instead.

I've got a number of scanners. 6 to be exact. However I don't try to scan with any of them from within PSP. There's other software that's just more suited for the task. Whether it's 32 bit or 64 bit really doesn't matter to me since I'm only interfacing with that one program to control the scanner and as long as that's working properly I'm creating images to adjust in PSP.
