Shhhhh... special intro offer for PaintShop Pro X7

Post by Greg Wood »

Hi Everyone,

By now those of you who are regular users of PSP or who subscribe to our e-mailing list will have received exclusive-to-current-users introductory upgrade offers for PSPX7. The new version will officially launch next week, but we wanted those of you who've been such great supporters over the years to get access to the new version first, before anyone else. (Thank you for your continued support!) We're really excited about the new version -- especially the new Magic Fill, Shape- and Text-Cutting tools, brush acceleration and other really useful features and we hope you enjoy it.

We're looking forward to sharing PaintShop Pro X7 with the world next week, but in the meantime, keep an eye on your PSP or email and please enjoy yourself! Happy editing!

Sincerely,
Greg, Joseph and the Corel Photo Team

I opened and closed PSP and there was no advert of any type. Also, typically I don't get e-mails with offers although I have been using since the JASC days. Hope it is a good deal though.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

Yes. Thank you. I downloaded the X7 trial and installed it. But, for some reason I don't understand, the installed version is the standard version instead of the Ultimate version. The email link pointed to a web page which specifically said "X7 Ultimate" but the download was only the standard version. If there is some way to activate the Ultimate functionality that would be nice so I can check to see if the Perfectly Clear functionality is something I want.

It would also be nice if I could find some documentation for the KPT filter collection. They are not enabled when I load raw or tiff files and only sometimes when I load jpgs.

Thanks.

No email here yet.

I am wondering about standard V ultimate. I already have Perfectly clear from PSP X6 Ultimate. I already have Face Filter 3 from PSP X6 Ultimate. And FF3 is just the standard version that is size limited.

I guess I don't understand what you mean.

Corel's comparison web page clearly said that Perfectly Clear was included in the Ultimate version and the download page for X7 also specifically said it was for the Ultimate version. But the version I got did not include Perfectly Clear and the 3 downloads that I was given did not include Perfectly Clear. My downloads were (1) the KPT plugin collection, (2) a guide to scripting and (3) some extra brushes and textures.

Where is Perfectly Clear?

Traditionally Corel doesn't give the extra "Ultimate" content until after you've purchased the Ultimate program.

Oh. OK. So that means that I have to buy the Ultimate version to see if Perfectly Clear is worth the extra money.

That prevents me from posting a question asking where Perfectly Clear is. At least your post saves me some embarrassment. Thanks.

I think it's worth the extra $10 or so. I use it a lot and would like to be able to use it with Photoshop. Unfortunately I would have to pay about $199 or $99 on sale. I don't know whether or not the retail version is a newer version since Corel seems to throw in outdated versions as extras but the version with PSP Ultimate is quite good.

I assume your post means that you cannot just take the Perfectly Clear plugin (or whatever it is) and copy it over to Photoshop to use it there.

Perhaps the thing for me to do is to get the Ultimate version, see how the Perfectly Clear plugin/scripting tool/whatever works and then compare it with the trial version of Perfectly Clear for Photoshop. At least I will know more about it than I do now since my only experience with it was the version stuck into ASP which I thought was not very good.

Well I suppose this means I am making progress..... I now get an advert when I close X6 that offers to sell me X7. But there is no upgrade path, just purchasing the software package. Not sure I will upgrade this go around, there is no mention of fixing the auto selection tool that was so highly touted in the last go around.

Corel also offers a 30 day money back guarantee if it's not to your liking. I don't use Perfectly Clear too often to tell you if it's worth it. It is however different than in ASP.

I haven't found a way to do it. It seems to install right into PSP.
