Re: PSPx7
Well I bought X7 here in Australia - Upgrade version - for $70.
Installed first time with no problems on XP desktop computer.
Started testing and immediately found something broken.
In all versions of PSP, you can drag the layer thumbnail onto another image on the workspace (Untabbed docs) and you get a one click and drag copy and paste as new layer - not in X7 nada . no effect .
In all versions of PSP and not present in PS - you can drag a layer thumbnail into a blank part of the workspace and it makes a copy of that layer as a new image ie Copy and Paste as new image. Again this does not work.
This is also useful for where you have extracted an image or letters against a transparent background. In that case dragging and dropping to the workspace copies only the opaque material effectively doing a best crop and paste as new image.
Will next test that in Windows 7 as it may be just a problem with the XP install.

I am sure it will be, but it should have been before the program was released.

Re: PSPx7
I won't be too quick to upgrade from X6. It seems like Corel is using their customers as beta testers when the program is supposed to be stable and finished. Although, X6 is a nice program and I have enjoyed using it thus far but I am by no means a power user. A lot of the things you people discuss is basically Greek to me but then my requirements are relatively modest compared to some of you. I do marvel at your knowledge and abilities of PSP.

Re: PSPx7
Based on the comparison chart showing the differences between X7 and X7 Ultimate the only differences appear to be Perfectly Clear, some textures and backgrounds and some portrait tools. Aside from Perfectly Clear, which is a general tool, the other tools seem to not seem to me to be aimed at general users.
I have used Perfectly Clear in ASP where, to be honest, I was not terribly impressed with its effects and generally turned it off. Based on that it seems to me that X7 may be a better tool for the general user than X7 Ultimate, but perhaps other people have found that these tools are really helpful. I would appreciate some comments from users who are familiar with these "extras" to help me decide if it is worth spending the extra money for the Ultimate version.
As a rule 95% of my photos involve travel photography for the family with nothing even semi-professional. And, since my wife and I are retired, that also means no pictures of children. Does anyone with any experience with these tools have any opinions as to their use for the general user?
Thanks.

Re: PSPx7
I ha ve used Perfectly Clear with ASP and PSP. The PSP version has more options other than the one click. I'm not sure if it's the same version that costs $200 or not but I do find it quire useful along with my Topaz plugins with PSP.MikeFromMesa wrote:Based on the comparison chart showing the differences between X7 and X7 Ultimate the only differences appear to be Perfectly Clear, some textures and backgrounds and some portrait tools. Re: PSPx7
I have not found that to be true. I was able to download and install it without a serial number. It is working like a normal trial version for me. The only really odd thing is that the download page said I was getting the Ultimate version but, when I installed it, it turned out to be the standard version. So I have no way to determine if Perfectly Clear is good enough to warrant the difference in price.bananahead wrote:Because it hasn't been announced yet.
But if you try and download the X6 trial you will get X7.
Shame that it needs a serial number though

Re: PSPx7
Mike any Ultimate version is a standard + add-on, so the trial NEVER includes those add-ons.

If you have used PSP before you should know that purchasing an Ultimate version means you install the standard version (as Cassel said) then receive a an email to download the extras.

Re: PSPx7
I have a question. If I buy the "upgrade" version, does that mean if I ever need to do a complete reinstall (for example, after reinstalling my OS, which I did just recently) will I have to install X6 first? Or is it still the "full" version, just at a lower price because I do have X6?
TIA.
TIA.

Re: PSPx7
It's just a price break. You can either leave X6 on your system, or remove it completely. Either way won't affect installing or use of X7.fred8615 wrote:I have a question. Thanks. I wanted to make sure cause I have been bitten in the past with "upgrade" software that required the previous version be installed.df wrote:It's just a price break. You can either leave X6 on your system, or remove it completely. Either way won't affect installing or use of X7.

Re: PSPx7
I have used PSP before (in fact X5 and X6) but I never bought the Ultimate version so I was not sure of how Perfectly Clear was available - as a plugin or as an integrated feature. If an integrated feature it could be either installed and the link could be made invisible or it could require a completely new download and install. I just was not sure.trueblue wrote:If you have used PSP before you should know that purchasing an Ultimate version means you install the standard version (as Cassel said) then receive a an email to download the extras.

Re: PSPx7
My previous version, PSP-X6, was "Ultimate". Will these versions of Perfectly Clear and the other bonus features work with PSP-X7? No point in paying the Ultimate Price twice for the same content...
I'm curious about how well the "Magic Fill" works. I've been envious of PS for years since that was addedd.

It works about as well as for PS. Nothing can be perfect, but definitely better than using only the clone tool!I'm curious about how well the "Magic Fill" works. I've been envious of PS for years since that was addedd.
