Re: PSPx7
Yeah, based on the comparison chart, I'm not seeing a reason for me to upgrade from X6. The enhanced dialogs and palettes are quite good-looking, the claimed performance increases for the brushes, and the clipping mask (finally !!!) are nice, but not compelling. Those enhancements are more justified as a "point" upgrade to X6 than as a new product.
The other stuff are features I've long had in my image editing program of choice, PhotoLine....

Why, if PhotoLine is your editor of choice, do you worry about using PSP?
You have mentioned your preference for PL so often that I am puzzled why you use PSP..
Just wondering

Re: PSPx7
I'm tempted to upgrade, but I expect there will be a number of bugs to be worked out, and in a month, Amazon will have the full version for less than the current upgrade price.
I'll just wait to get a better version for less money.

Re: PSPx7
Won't get a chance to play with it for a couple of days, but one first impression: the RAW editor is much quicker to open. I used to dislike PSP's RAW editor because it was so darn slow to boot up. But now it's really quick. So for those times when you're in PSP & you need to work with a RAW file, and you're too lazy or don't want to switch to your favorite RAW editor, at least you won't be so exasperated waiting & waiting...
Wow, the RAW editor is a LOT more responsive. I might even learn to like it.

Re: PSPx7
It was the same with X6: got an email but had to go to the link in the email to get any information on X6 (website only showed X5). Seemed odd but no biggie
Been using PSP since X5, upgraded to X6 for the noticeably faster 64bit version. The only things I REALLY wish were much better were:
1) brush hardness. Even set to 0, the brush isn't actually really soft. You can play with density to "soften it" more, but it isn't really the same.
2) applying affects/adjustments. I really hate the lag in seeing previews on image. It is something I deal with because I have no choice but it is annoying when you've been in LR for a while, hop over into PSP, and now you have lags in seeing changes you're trying to make.
PS and LR have no lag so it is disappointing
3) less bog down with layers. It only takes about 3 or 4 layers before I start to see the program slowing down, making more advanced or intensive composites pretty much impossible in PSP compared to PS.
*4) asterisk because for ME it isn't a massive deal, but the selection tools are less than accurate or easy to use so improving that would be great. I'd use it more if it wasn't so iffy.
Apparently #2 and #4 are better in X7 so I'll try it out to see for sure.
I wouldn't care if PSP needed to use all 8 or 12g of RAM (depending on which computer I'm on), just be faster so I can see adjustments real time and not have to wait! I get SOOOO jealous when I watch people with PS make adjustments and can see it on the image real time

Re: PSPx7
As of this posting I haven't gotten an upgrade email, nor is there a notice when I tried opening and closing my X6.

Re: PSPx7
I bought the new Version PSP X7.
I love PSP since PSP x2.
Is this a bug ?
1. Picture new Dialog PSP X7 (max. Window)
2. Picture Dialog PSP X6 (max. Window)
This is not good. Or can I do this in the settings?

There's this:
That sounds like clipping masks are available. If I'm mistaken about that, then I apologize. In fact, reading the quote more closely, if this feature only creates a new image file as output, then I did jump to conclusions and clipping masks are still not possible.... Apologies, again.New!
Text and Shape Cutting
Instantly create a photo object by using text or a shape to clip an underlying photo or image. The result is an instant photo object (new file) with a transparent background that you can paste or drag to any image as a layer.

Re: PSPx7
We're a happy bunch of users. Corel brings out an update/new version of PSPx7 and before the paint is even dry we are complaining!! I'm not a Corel groupie. Sure Corel has its faults. But when we complain we should remember that PSP is a fraction of the cost of PS. (We could always buy PS and complain about the bugs in PS). Does the VW owner complain when a new Porsche 911 blasts by? Does the VW owner complain because his VW cost a fraction the price of the 911?
No harm in having a wish list. No harm in pointing out bugs. But please try to keep it all in perspective.
regards

Re: PSPx7
Has anyone looked at the plugins?
My AP plugins + Mura's meisters, andrews plugin 1.5.3, Innovations 1.5 don't work anymore, they all give an error .

I'm not at all "worried" about using PSP, but your question is a valid one, and quite understandable.Joelle wrote:Hmm ...

I will still keep PSPX6 installed for a few reasons:
1. The KPT Collection is an outstanding set of plugins; but apparently, when launched, the plugins check for the existence of PSP. Keeping PSP installed allows me to launch those plugins from within PhotoLine (32-bit).
2. I like the Artistic Media tools, especially the Impasto Brush and the Mixer Palette. The other option for that type of media effect (Painter Lite) is not very good.
3. There are a few marginal tools such as creating a faux HDR image from one image, the Smart Carver, and Photo Blend that I will rarely, if ever, use but I like having those options "just in case".

Re: PSPx7
Probably no support for large panoramas so this version will be a dud too.
Price for the update is too high anyway, 50 euros for slightly faster brush, Whoopty Doo.
