Finding System Information

Post by Shanester »

Greetings,

I wish there was a FAQ on how to find system information to add to the User Control Panel, without having to install Belarc Advisor.

Regards,
Shane.

Hi Shane

Well yes there are places where you can retrieve the system info.
Right click the Computer icon and choose properties.
There is an option for Device Manager, which will show a lot of info.

Also from
Start Menu- programs – accessories – system tools – system info –although I think that is more complex than Belarc

I am sure other programs, Nero for instance has a link to show System Info.
Others on the forum should tell us other sources, I am sure there are many.

Belarc Advisor I think was added by Corel, I find it useful but you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to, we only ask for the minimum details, filling in the rest is up to you.

Your system info does help in answering your problems, especially if you have a computer based issue, besides it saves us asking the question.

Hello,

If I go into Device Manager and expand Display adapters, it shows me two:
  • ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650
  • Intel HD Graphics
When I expand Sound, video and game controllers, I also get two:
  • ATI High Definition Audio Device
  • IDT High Definition CODEC
I'm not sure which one is relevant.

I can't find any information about the motherboard.

Thanks,
Shane.

There is no need for you to worry to much about completing all of the information - much of the info requested is a throwback to the days when these forums were only for video related products where your computer spec. can be important, but I notice you are using PSP where computer spec is not so critical - just fill in whatever you can and people will ask if they need it to answer your questions.

Incidentally Trevor - I remember it was Steve Jones who introduced the Belarc Advisor to help people complete their profiles.

OK... guess I won't worry about it.

Hi

I have PSP X4, when I choose Help – About – the panel has a button marked System Info and shows some pc details?

Video Studio does not have that option?

It's the same in PSP X5.

I never noticed that before. Thanks for pointing it out.

This will be on-board the motherboard built in graphics, connection normally at top of connectors

  • ATI High Definition Audio Device

This is a codec and not a physical piece of hardware.
