Major Audio/Music issue in VS8

Post by PDLaughlin »

While working on a project today everything was fine until I tried to put my music to the project.

When I tried to listen to the song it made a nasty, whacked out "computer sounding" noise instead of the music!

I then played the same song in Windows MediaPlayer, MusicMatch, etc and it played fine. So it wasn't the file.

I then went back and tried to play other files with the same luck. Then VS crashed on me. Now it does that everytime I open the program.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled it to no avail. I have uploaded most of the patches. A couple won't work because it says I need the "VideoStudio 8.0 Patch". I can not find anything, anywhere that is simple the "Patch".

I download the trial of VS 9.0 and it has no sound at all but then it crashes.

Can anyone PLEASE help!? I am doing this projuect for a customer and am screwed if I can get this fixed in a day or so.

THANK YOU!

P.S. I sent this same info to support but never heard anything.

A number of people have had trouble when trying to insert MP3 format audio files. Don't know why this happens since Video Studio is supposed to be able to handle MP3s and, in my case, does so with no hint of a problem. But the people who DO have problems find that if they first convert the MP3 to WAV format, their problem disappears.

But I am afraid I cannot help with your current problem where you can't even get the program to open so that you can try the above. All I can suggest is that you first uninstall it, taking out any reference to VS8 out of your computer and editing the Registry for this purpose as well. And then reinstall it. I assume, though, that you tried the other old fashioned solution of simply rebooting the computer and seeing what happens then.
