Pro X7 - Full Version or Upgrade?
In the interest of still trying to use VS as my editor and test it with some XAVC clips from my new camera, I just saw that Pro X7 is available for $39.99 in either the full version or upgrade. It is the same price for either. I am thinking I could install the full version independent of my current X5 installation without the potential of losing and libraries in the installation process. Is there any advantage to getting the upgrade when the full version is the same price?

Re: Pro X7 - Full Version or Upgrade?
If you upgraded you would not lose the version of X5 as the only check is the key code to unlock the original programme. So no difference between upgrade and full. I have X5, X6 and X7 on my PC and the experienced members have most of the older copies too.
I find X7 a very "comfortable" programme to use even compared to X6 but its like riding a bike, once you have the basics it doesn't really matter which programme you use.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Hi
As Terfyn says the programs are installed separately, although you can only run one at a time.
Are you intending to purchase the Ultimate version, with that price I would suspect it’s the Pro version and would not have the Bonus packages -- ProDad etc.
By the way you cannot automatically transfer libraries from X5 to X7.
Oh...........
If the price is the right purchase the full version, then you do not need to prove ownership of a previous version to install X7

Re: Pro X7 - Full Version or Upgrade?
Thanks for the replies! Yes, it is the Pro version, not Ultimate. I figured I would not be able to transfer Libraries from one to the other. I just don't want to lose the libraries I have now in X5. I use some of my libraries from year to year for an ongoing project that I update/revise every year now for ten years. The library issues in VS have always presented problems for me. But as I learned in response to another recent post, it does not look like X7 can handle the XAVC-S format produced by the Sony A7S. That also presents a problem for me but I would still like to use VS for my previous projects and for constructing DVD slideshows. For $40.00, I still think it will be worth getting X7 Pro but I am willing to be dissuaded.... Thanks again! Wayne

Re: Pro X7 - Full Version or Upgrade?
Hi Wayne
Give the trial version a run,
One advantage is the ability to set HD settings for the project properties
Access to Share is a little different but does the same job, editing processes have not changed that much, so creating those Slide Shows will not have changed.
I don’t know about XVAC-S formats, if you can provide a sample I will give it a go on X7, although its just as easy for you to run the trial.
