Capture using VideoStudio X6 cutting off full video

Post by geeves »

So I'm trying to capture a PAL VHS-C video using VS X6 and for some reason when I try to do the full 45 minute video, it seems to cut it off randomly in the middle where it "thinks" that the video has ended.

I try to stop the capture at 45 min, but when I look at the file, it will be much shorter at 35 min. it seems like the program is just finding a certain length of time of snow picture and cutting it off there? Is there any way to fix this or turn it off?

If the program reaches a blank or snowy section on the tape, many capture programs will assume they have reached the end of the tape and stop capturing. There really is no fix for this situation. You just have to restart capturing from that point.
What capture device are you using for capturing?

Depending on your capture device, we usually recommend that you use whatever software which came with it to capture the video in an appropriate format, then open it in Video Studio for editing. This is because most capture devices have capture software specially tweaked to work properly with the device, whereas VS might only work in a general way with the device, and often, it won't work at all.

And when I say "capture the video in an appropriate format". I mean it should be captured in a format which will work with what you intend to do with the video after editing. So, for example, if you were going to make a DVD, you should capture the video as DVD-compatible mpeg-2.
