Photo as thumbnail for rendered movie

Post by blankia »

I placed a photo in the beginning of my movie. Because I want this photo to be displayed as a thumbnail of the rendered file. This is however not the case now (it picks a shot 2 seconds into the movie). How to solve this?

Hi
and welcome to the forums

I am not sure I understand, can you give a little more info

1 / What version of Video Studio are you using?
2 / Do you mean the image starts at the beginning and runs for 2 seconds
3 / the image starts at 2 seconds.
4 / To view the exact image location switch to Story Board View (icon top left of timelines)
5 / you can change the image duration to 1 frame if you wish

When you say display as a thumbnail, I now assume when burning a DVD is that correct.
6 / From the burner module, first page, you can select a frame to display as the menu thumbnail

As I say I am not sure what your problem is?

Ok. It is also hard for me to explain.

Let me try again.
When you render a movie and place it in a map, do you also see a preview icon/thumbnail which you can click on?
Because I can.. all MP4 files are displayed with a thumbnail/icon. usually this is the first frame of the movie, so you can see what the movie is about.. However, this is not the case for my rendered movie.

1) Im using Pro X7
2) No. I don't really need/want the image in my movie. I only want it to be displayed as a thumbnail/preview/icon in a map.

Hi

I would say this is a Windows Explorer issue.

Are the video files different to the others that do show the thumbnail.?

Did you make sure your image was actually at the beginning of your project.?
With your project open in the timeline, press the word Project adjacent to the play button.

Now press the Home button next to the play, that will display the first frame in your project, do you see an image?

Ok thnx!

Also, I checked the others movies, and it is an windows explorer issue! It always takes a snapshot two seconds into the movie as a thumbnail :s.

In Corel the first frame is the same as the picture.
Question: If the first frame in Corel pro X7 is the picture, then that would be the thumbnail on youtube for example? How long should this picture be displayed as a minimum?

Hi

I hadn’t realised that Windows Explorer uses the 2 second frame as the source for the thumbnail.
I don’t really know about YT thumbnails, but it should remain in view till the video plays.
Try for yourself by uploading a video to YT having the first frame as an image.

Whats the problem in having a longer image?
