VSX7 rendering with 25 fps versus 50 fps

Post by hfrsamba »

Hello,

my TV device records from a HD channel AVC videos with 720x576, 50 fps, 24 Bit, ratio 16:9 and H.264-video. Because the hard disk used for recording is only FAT32 formated, a video file can reach maximum 2 GB size and the TV recorder generates several single files (0000001, 00000002 and so on ... ), the amount depends on duration of movie and quality (HD or SD channel)
I use VideoStudio to generate a single output video file for all this single files by appending them to the time line. Now my question: using MPEG-4 for output file in VS 7X Pro can only use 25 fps with a resolution of 1920x1080, but I cannot select 50 fps with this resolution for profil settings (also not with user defined profil). The next settings is indeed a 4K resolution, which offers 50 fps, but I am not sure, if my HD TV can play back this 4K resolution (the the file size increasing up to more than 24 GByte for a 02:15 hh:mm movie duration). Using AVC/H.264 as output I can select 50 fps, but this video format (.m2t) hat the disadvantace, that I cannot jump to a specific play back position with hh:mm:ss with my TV generic video player, like it it possible with .mp4 and .wmv or mpeg-2.

Are there quality losses, if I use 25 fps in the output file on a 50 fps input source ? I think each second video picture is not used in output video.

Onother problem on Windows 8.1: during rendering the preview for AVC/H.264 (.m2t) videos is not possible in VS X7 Pro, preview works only for MPEG-4, MPEG-2 and WMV (AVI I did not test).

In Preferences > General, have you ticked the box beside "Show message when inserting first video clip"? If so, you should, when you insert one of your clips, receive a message asking if you want the Project Properties set to match those of the clip. If you say 'yes', then when you have finished editing, you can go to Share, then tick the top box which will be "Same As Project Properties" (or even "Same As First Clip"). Then you should be able to output a single file with properties identical to those of your original video.

Ok, but I want to create a mpeg-4 Video from source resolution 1280x720, 50p (50 fps, progressive) to destination resoltion 1920x1080, 50p. This works only for AVC/H.264 (.M2T) videos, but not for MPEG-4 videos. MAGIX Video Deluxe can do it, but not Corel VideoStudio X7 Pro.
