Hi,
I'm a new member although I did looked up issues on this forum before. You guys are doing a fantastic job.
I am a long time Corel user (started from CorelDraw v.2 > ) and using Video Studio from X4. Since than I've purchased every version, the latest being VS X7 Ultimate. This is when the problem started.
My system is more than capable of handling video editing and everything was OK before I've installed VS X7. Since than I can not burn any DVDs, when the disk burning process should start, an error message comes up stating that there is no DVD burner in the system.
Does not matter if I try to burn an mpg2 file directly (without a project) or a project, or output an ISO file. The program just can not see the burner.
If I just open the default Windows DVD burner program there is no problem, the DVD is successfully created.
I had no issues with any of the previous versions of VS. I have not changed anything in the system or in video file types.
I have disabled and later also deleted the DVD drive, restarted, updated windows, reinstalled the drive - no success. Updated DVD and video card drivers. Deleted VS X7 and reinstalled it. Updated VS X7 to the latest patch - no success.
Surprise - I have opened my previous VS X6 Ultimate that had no problems previously, and surprise, - I am receiving the same error!
At this stage I can not burn anything to a DVD from any of the VS versions, but the system is recognizing the drive and I can use it with other programs. The issue is clearly with VS X7 but it seam to be 'contagious' since it is now effecting V6 as well.
I am struggling with this problem for more than a week now, did anybody experienced similar issues, can anybody help please?
Thanks.

Re: No DVD Burner error in VS X7 Ultimate
Hi
First I do not think this problem has been raised for Video Studio X7
In the past Nero’s InCd caused a lot of problems as the program took control of the drive. Uninstalling InCd seemed to cure the problem.
So do you have a program that is taking control of the drive. Have you installed any other DVD Player software?
If you output to a Dics Image ISO, are you able to use VS to burn that image. Tools -- Burn from Disc Image?

Re: No DVD Burner error in VS X7 Ultimate
Thanks for your reply.
The only DVD burning program I have is the default Windows DVD maker, that was already installed before VS. That program can still burn DVDs, VS can not. I do no have Nero. I have VLC media player but that also was already on he drive before VS X7 and I was able to burn DVDs with VS X6.
Creating an ISO file is OK, but VS does not recognize the burner when I intend to output onto a DVD.
But how is it possible that now VS X6 is showing the same problem as X7? This is puzzling.

The exact error message after clicking the Burn button is:
No burner exists.
[516:0:0]
No burner exists.

Re: No DVD Burner error in VS X7 Ultimate
Does Windows see the burner as a distinct drive letter? Have you rebooted?

Re: No DVD Burner error in VS X7 Ultimate
Yes, it is displayed as a separate drive. Windows can burn to it, I can select files from Explorer/File manager and drag to the drive to burn onto a disk.
It is also correctly displayed in Control panel > Device manager.
I have rebooted many times.
Last night (sorry, I am in Melbourne, Australia) I was up again working on this. I have downloaded and updated the drive with the latest firmware from LG.
Now it's a new development: I wanted to write an ISO file (from VS X7) to move an urgent job to another computer, but now I have received the same error message even if I am not outputting to the DVD drive. Output to disk was deselected.
Previously I was able to write to an ISO file.
If Windows can see the drive and can write to it and if VS X7 can't, it must be something wrong with VS.
I will install some other DVD burning software and see what happens.

Re: No DVD Burner error in VS X7 Ultimate
Hi
First Windows 7 has a Disc Image Burner that should burn your ISO to disc.
From Windows Explorer right click the Iso file and choose “Open With “ – Windows disc Image Burner.
Video Studio…..
As far as I know the burner modules use the same files on your pc, so a problem with X6 could also affect X7.
I believe the files are within a Common folder and should be purged after uninstalling the last program. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Ulead Systems
Can you uninstall all versions of Video Studio, I assume you have only X6 and X7 installed???
Removal Instructions for Corel VideoStudio Pro X6
Corel Video Studio X7 can be removed via Programs and Features.
However Corel did provide a cleanup tool, I have attached this to the post.
Re-install X6
Install any service packs
Run to see if the program recognises the burner/disc drive.
Now install X7
And good luck
