craig16229, install problems at the Add/Remove Programs don't usually happen. Avoiding manual uninstallation of a software is exactly what InstallShield is there for. There's usually just a corrupt file lurking on your computer that causes the problem. You can't predict what every computer in the world has installed and what the situation in it is you know. I've had my share of problems with almost every type of installer there is as well. That is why it is important to contact the software company tech support when problems like this arise. You need to get the official information and the proper procedure on how to do it. The uninstallation procedure you gave is not even complete yet. Go to the C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information folder (usually hidden) and you'll see that there's a long string named file folder there you'd also have to delete. This is even more important when you talk of the registry. One wrong move could spell disaster. Get proper guidance always...

re: looks like it is an intermittent problem
Ulead uses the services of Installshield for its installation like hundreds of other softwares do. You can find the install information in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information, the same one used by other big companies like Macromedia, Cyberlink, Sony Apps, and many others... not C:\Windows\installer like Microsoft applications are usually at.

hi guys,
thanks for all your reply's but nothing helps.
I also got an answer from the technical support service from Ulead. This is their answer:
Dear Tine,
Follow these instructions to perform a clean remove.
1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to
"Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders".
2. Please purge/delete all the files in these folders:
"C:\Windows\Temp"
C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp? (for WinXP)
3. Go to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems"
4. Delete the folder for Ulead DVD PictureShow 3.0
5. Delete "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems"
6. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information"
7. Delete the folder {C82E1703-ACBB-4015-856B-A8A0E5BAC661}
8. Go to Start-->Run
9. type "regedit"
10. Go to
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD PictureShow"
11. Delete the folder "3.0"
12.go toHKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Ulead Systems/Ulead DVD PictureShow
13. Delete the folder "3.0"
14.Close "Regedit"
15.Restart W
16. Reinstall the new version
I did all the steps, most of them I had done already long time before, the only one I didn't get rid of was the one in C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information. I did now, but still the map Ulead is coming back in my startup files on reboot.
I guess I have to live with it, untill I got another major problem (hope it will take some long time!!) and deside to format my C drive and reinstall my PC.

Uninstall/reinstall
I too bought the full version of 3.0 the same day as I downloaded and played with the trial version. The software was so easy to use, I couldn't wait.
I installed the full version, assuming it would clean up the trial version. It did so, but left a few bits around - the software installed into a different folder, for example, and the "My Documents" folder was different as well. I copied all my projects from the trial version documents folder to the permanent version folder, and re-edited them. They were pretty much intact, except for any added text or pictures - apparently CD/DVD pictureshow stores this extra stuff in folders in the document path; when I moved the project and deleted the trial version folders, this text went away.
Not a huge issue, but if you've built a lot of slideshows with the trial version, it's a bummer.
Lesson learned: Install the trial version; create a new folder in your "My Documents" folder WITHOUT a version number on it, then change your preferences in CD/DVD Pictureshow to point to this folder. Then, when you upgrade, change your preferences to point to this folder again.

It's not me you need to worry about. It's other customers or potential customers with whom Ulead needs to concern itself.
Regarding your comments about every system being different and cautions about the registry, I respectfully refer you to my previous posts. You are preaching to the choir. I have been repacking software for managed workstations for some time, in everything from ZenWorks to .msi for AD / Group Policy deployment.
I gave the minimum amount of instructions to overcome a problem I had that was similar to what was described elsewhere in this thread.
The bottom line is that is rarely this difficult dealing with a piece of software, but all too often it is.
Further, people more often find their solutions more efficiently on forums like this one these days than first attempting to go through a support call.
