Lost Preview Window
I am pretty new to Video Studio X7. I am reading a book on using X5 and have watched a number of videos. So I have lots of questions, but will finish the book, do more work and see what answers I can come up with on my own before posting here. However, I have not found this yet. I have 2 monitors. I open VSX7 and drag the preview pane to the monitor on the right and fill the screen. When I wanted to look something up on the net, I shrank it....but could not get it back. Now I realize you can go to preferences (after saving the layout as custom)to get it back but that seems like extra steps and clicks. Where the heck did it go and how come I can't open it again? I didn't close the window, I just shrank it. TIA

Re: Lost Preview Window
I have never used two monitors - but just supposing - trying to help
If you minimise the window on the second monitor will it shrink back to the first monitor containing the rest of the programme ?

Re: Lost Preview Window
I looked for that, but the window just disappears....no icon for it anywhere. If I shrink VS in the first window, there is no hint of the preview window. I have figured out a couple of work arounds and it is not the biggest problem in the world, just wondering what I was missing. Thanks for the response.

Re: Lost Preview Window
Load X7. Go to Settings and Layout Settings. Click Switch To and then Default and you should get the Preview screen back where it started on your first monitor. Move it to the second monitor and set it up as you had it. Click Save to Custom #1. Now try to minimise the preview screen and then click Switch to Custom #1. Should restore the screen in your second monitor.
Just tried it. I had Custom #1 set up and the screen was restored as normal.

Re: Lost Preview Window
Thanks for the response. That is one of my work arounds.....the other is to not have the window cover the entire second screen so I can click on help files or my browser under it and read instructions about how to do something. Appreciate the input.

Re: Lost Preview Window
Sorry - me wondering again - why do you use the second screen for accessing the internet etc. - wouldn't it be easier to minimise the main VideoStudio programme and use the first monitor for the internet.
Or swap monitors so that the first has the preview window and the second for everything else.

Re: Lost Preview Window
This is my method. My second screen is a LG 16:9 monitor which I use exclusively for the Preview window. The way Windows sets it up is as an extension to the first screen. Clearly using the second screen for the preview window means that I get a better idea of the look of the final video.BrianCee wrote:Sorry - me wondering again - why do you use the second screen for accessing the internet etc. - wouldn't it be easier to minimise the main VideoStudio programme and use the first monitor for the internet.

Re: Lost Preview Window
I like using the second screen for accessing the internet because I find most of my questions are how to do things (how do I add xyz?) Those types of things are usually done in the main window (not the preview window) so I like the internet open in one (with instructions) and the main window open in another.... then I can follow along step by step. Again, it is probably a work around to switch windows but I am pretty used to my preview window on my right as that's what I do in my main photo editing program too. Thanks for the thought.

Re: Lost Preview Window
Hi
Not sure this will help but try these Windows keyboard Shortcuts
• Windows Logo+M: Minimize all
• SHIFT+Windows Logo+M: Undo minimize all
I tried with my single monitor for Video Studio preview screen and it did revert the preview panel into view, whether it affects all monitors I don’t know.
When you “Shrank” the preview screen did it not show on the main program workstation at bottom left?

Re: Lost Preview Window
This method did not work with the second monitor. I tried it and the computer refused to reload VideoStudio. The computer needed rebooting before VideoStudio would reload. All the tools needed for a second screen recovery are in VS.
The way I suggested works and it is better to leave the control of the screens in VideoStudio. I suspect it is because the second monitor is set up from VideoStudio and not Windows.

Re: Lost Preview Window
Thanks for the suggestion.... looks like it hasn't worked for Terfyn, but I'll check it b4 i turn the computer off tonight. No biggie, there are work arounds..... just wondering (although frankly, I was a little apprehensive the first time I did it, given I am sooooo unfamiliar with VS!!) Appreciate the responses.
