I know how to create DVDs because this is what I have always done. After having created a DVD I then wanted to create a thumb drive version of the software. Can I do this without re-rendering in MPEG4 format? I did manage to get onto the on-line Chat once and the techo told me just to copy it across. Is this true and which file do I copy across? I did succeed in creating one by re-rendering. Is it possible for the version on the thumb drive to play on another computer without having DVD software on that computer?
If I create a version on my I-Pad, will it play on the I-Pad without getting another player to play it? I know I can try this, but I'm trying not to waste too much time!
I also note that V7 does not have the facility to create a video file first, but only goes straight to the burn on whatever medium you choose. I don't mind this, but am just wondering.

Re: Sharing
Hi
Video Studio X7 share options are similar to the earlier versions, however the layout has changed and the way the options are displayed, may cause some confusion.
You can create a video file first……….
With your project open in the edit timelines select the share tab
There is a central vertical icon list, the top icon being selected by default
This is the Create Video File option now described as “Create a video you can play on a computer”
Select the Mpeg2 option, this is what is needed to burn a standard dvd, choose one of the options from the profiles (probably MPEG-2(720 x 576,16:9,50i,8Mbps)
(For earlier versions Share Create Video File – DVD 16:9)
Ok that renders the project to a compliant Mpeg2 file.
You can use the file to burn a standard DVD
Start a new project, nothing in the timeline—Share – Disc icon 4th down
Add the Mpeg2 file to the burner module, top left add video.
You can add that file to a memory stick to play on the tv, maybe via the DVD Players usb port.
Your USB stick will be formatted to Fat 32 so will have a 4 Gb file limit, you may be best to format to NTFS
You should be able to play that file on your pc, you will need a media player to play the files, VCL Media Player seems to play most formats.
I don’t know that much about I-pads but think you may need Mpeg4, and an “app” to play video.

Re: Sharing
This should perhaps be a new topic, but I can't for the life of me find the button to create a new topic!
Anyway, re previous post,s I was having trouble creating the disc from the video file, so decided to go straight to Create Disc. The first time I got the infamous Unspecified Error no 5.1. I changed the burn rate and then it succeeded. However, I had requested it to burn two copies. It seemed to me that the software then went back into trying to start as if it was a brand new request, which then failed with a message " Could not create file". I am most perplexed.
Now, I did ask it to create a disc image the first time, so I thought that I would just copy the disc image to a new disc, using Movie Factory 7. Alas, I have a new computer and discovered that Movie Factory does not come with Videostudio X7. Does anyone know how I can create a new disk from the disk image file? I am guessing that I will have to download some software from somewhere!

Re: Sharing
No need for any extra software - VideoStudio has the means to burn a disc image to DVD. just go to "Tools >> Burn from disc Image (ISO)"
