I need to learn how to do a few things in PSP X3. Upgrading to a newer version of PSP is not an option for me at this time, so I need to learn to do these things in PSP X3. I am pretty much a "newb" and need "How to for Dummies" step by step instruction on things, so here goes my request.
I make texture maps for avatar clothing, furniture, (objects / props) in 3D mutiplayer game.
I need to learn how to
*take a flat image of fabric and add folds, gathers, wrinkles to it, such as folds and shadowing in a Tshirt or gathers on top of a waistline in a shirt.
I also need to learn how to apply a shiny latex effect on a raw image to make it look "3D" and also how to make a picture of lips appear "glossy". Overall how to add realistic shine.
I've stumbled around in PXP x3 and there is nothing simple like "add folds" option. I know it can be done but I'm not finding it. I would also need to know step by step instructions.
Is there anyone willing to assist someone eager to learn with step by steps ?

I'm sure you can find a dozens of quality tutorials for Photoshop on net to make effects you need with a detailed step-by-step.
Then you can ask here more about specific steps in PSP X3.

That is really no help at all. I am looking for instructions in PSP. Thanks for the reply but am looking for a step by step. Photoshop is very different from corel with different features.

Would the ENVIDIA Texture Tools for PHotoShop be of any use for what you need. The plugin works in PaintShop and it is for free. I learned about it here in this forum.
Look for it here: https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-tex ... -photoshop
You can first try doing the following:
-Duplicate your layer.
-Open the plugin (Filters > NVIDIA Tools > NormalMapFilter)
-Try using the following settings: Filter type: 3x3; Invert Y; Scale: 15; leave 3D view options as: Animate Light; Height Source: Avarage RGB; Alpha Field: Height. Then: OK
-Desaturate the layer.
-Change the blending mode for the layer to Hard Light.
Probably this is not the correct way to use the plugin, but just fiddling around with it (just while trying it for the first time), this way I managed to get for an image some kind of texture visual enhancement through the shadowing of the contours of some of the objects present in the image that ought to have volume.
You will probably be better off if you read the pdf User Guide and/or google for more information about how to correctly use the plugin (which I haven`t done yet).

Have you thought about googling and searching the net for tutorials. We don't have tutorials here, but I assume there are a lot out there.saphyrerose wrote:That is really no help at all. Creating material folds requires shading and use of brushes and retouch tools. Do you do digital painting? This is one area to learn.
As for PS tutorials they are quite easy to convert for PSP.
