Reinstalling PS after refreshing OS

Post by SilverCheek »

Apologies if this has already been asked here and I missed it.

I bought Paintshop Pro x5 and the x6 upgrade. My computer is crashing and I am going to have to do a complete reset to its OEM condition. I need to know the exact steps (for dummies) of how to get my programs back after I am back to OEM condition.

I appreciate any help you can give. Thanks.

Thirty people have viewed this since I posted it. Hopefully someone will respond. It's no joke about my computer crashing. I've already zipped my files to save them, and uninstalled all programs that didn't come with the machine. I know I just posted the question today, but it's urgent for me to get an answer so that I can procede with peace of mind (before it totally conks out on me). I'm a bit anxious, I know. Thanks for any help. Even the link to a previous thread will do.

I bought Paintshop Pro x5 and the x6 upgrade.
Insufficient information--
If disc versions - find your discs and reinstall from those- the discs should have the serial numbers on them.
if download versions then you should have backed up the download on a separate external device and you just proceed again as you did whjen you first downloaded. Your serial number should be in an email you received with your order confirmation.
also have you registered the programs with Corel and have an account thers as you can redownload the extras that comes with the program from your account with Corel. - the extra brushes, tubes, backgrounds etc in other words every thing you did as a brand new user / purchaser.
I've already zipped my files to save them
Vague...
Do you mean your data files - images you have worked on (which should normally be backed up separately anyway).
Or do you mean the installed files in Programs folder which does not work as it does not include the registry bits.
Or do you mean the documents files 15.0 and 16.0 which includes any presets, brushes, tubes etc that you have made?

Thank you very much for responding. I seem to have allowed this mini-crisis to frazzle me. Apologies.

I have the disk for the original purchase of x5. I install that again then go and get the upgrade again? They are registered, and I do have an account, so the extras should be no problem.

I have zipped all my personal files, including things I have made, as well as application set-up files. I know everything should be backed up as a matter of course, but that hasn't been possible lately. Too long of a story.

While I've got you on the line, do you know if the EULA only allows installation on one computer? I have a new laptop and I'm wondering if it is allowed to have it on both the old one and the new one.

That's good but do you have the upgrade exe file for the X6 upgrade stored somewhere too (and of course the SN which would have come with it?
...do you know if the EULA only allows installation on one computer?
The PSP EULA allows installation on up to 3 computers, though only one can be used at a time. So beware the EULA police!!!

Hi Silvercheek,
Bit like school here with all the corrections :D .
Just another using the abbreviation PS is a bit like swearing here on these forums . PS usually used for Photoshop while PSP for PaintShop Pro.
Found a couple of threads that possibly answer your request.

and

Good luck with the new installations.

I'll just add that if you don't have the exe file for PSP X6, you can go to corel.com, sign in to your account and download it. Just scroll to the bottom of the page once you log in and you should see your order information there. If you have ordered multiple products you may have to click on See All Orders to find the order for PSP X6.

@everyone... Thank you all for coming to my rescue! I apologize again for allowing this crisis get the best of me.

@Ken Berry... I dug through my zipped files and I do have PaintShop_Pro_X6_Windows (exe)! Can I use this alone, or do I install PSPx5 first? I also checked my emails, and I still have the email with the serial number. Yes!

@hartpaul... Mea culpa! I didn't mean to cuss here on the forums. I'll get right to those threads as soon as I submit this post.

@Kathy_9... It's good to know that option is available. I believe it was hartpaul who mentioned it earlier. Maybe it's me, maybe it's my computer, or maybe it's my browser, but I seem to have a very hard time navigating my Corel account and finding what I need, but, if worse comes to worse I'll try about anything.

It should install by itself, though you can -- as some of us do -- have multiple versions of the program on the one computer. If it is the upgrade version (though it doesn't look it), then it might ask that you first enter the X5 serial number, to establish that you qualified for the upgrade price; and then it will ask for the X6 SN. But if it is not the upgrade version, it will probably only ask for its own SN...
