The option to maintain zoom seems to work only when the zoom level is 35% or more. When I preview images at 25% (which I have been doing since Bibble5), the zoom level is forced to 35% when switching images. This is at least what is I read on the screen. If I then click the fit image icon, the zoom changes once more to fit the image and the reported zoom level stays to 35%.
I am on Fedora.

One workaround is to click the fit to window button instead of zooming out to 25%. But that only achieves half of what I want.
The reason for zooming out to 25%: at 25% the image looks sharper than at 35%.
