Hello
I use Corel Video Studio Pro X5.
I'm no video expert and need to edit an MP4 video to emphasize part of the picture in the following way:
Apparently, VSX5 doesn't support drawing a circle on the screen, so as an alternative, I was thinking of freezing the video for a couple of seconds and simply adding some text for users to read.
Can this be done?
Thank you.
[VSProX5] Insert circle or freeze video?

Hi
Tools Paint Creator may do what you want
Also
Video Studio has a graphics library, press the flower icon to access the Colour library, then select Objects, you may find these useful, drag to the overlay track.
You can create your own transparent images to create the circle, Png or Gif would do.
To freeze the frame you should use the scissors to cut the frame, then take a snapshot of the first frame at that cut point, you may need to switch to Project Playback rather than Clip playback, depends on the properties of the video clip.
An image will be saved to the working folder, a thumbnail placed in the library.
Drag the image to the cut position adjusting the duration.

Although - as you have found out - you cannot easily draw on the screen you can very easily create a transparent image of any shape you want - put that in an overlay track and size and place it where you want it.
The first attachment below is a zipped file - download it - unzip it - and put it in an overlay track with your video in the top track and you should get the effect in the second attachment.
If you also stop the video you can still use the circle over the still image so you could combine both pause and circle.
If the object you want to highlight is moving you can also use motion tracking to make the highlight move with the object - that takes a little more skill but is possible.

Thanks. Worked perfectly.
