To add further salt into the wound, in effect the inclusion of SmartSound in Video Studio (and other editing programs) is really a bit of a gimmick, or more to the point, a teaser. At most it comes with a couple of SmartSound albums (Core Foundations and New Standard). Though I have not counted, together those albums give you around twenty individual pieces of music -- though the beauty of SmartSound is that those songs can be used in QuickTracks to play with a beginning, middle and end for an exact length which the user specifies, regardless of how long or short that period might be.

However, depending on how many videos you produce and what is in them, those two albums rapidly grow a bit boring. That is where the "teaser" part comes in. As Trevor has said, you cannot use QuickTracks with the other music clips that come with VideoStudio, or your own music. You have to use SmartSound-produced albums, and unless you buy during one of their sales, those albums are not cheap, running at around US$99 a disc last time I looked. I was lucky enough to buy a whole large set of them second hand for a very reasonable price a few years ago when a TV station in the city where I used to live cleaned out its stock, and I have added one or two more discs since then during SmartSound sales. This in turn made it worthwhile for me to buy the stand-alone "pro" version of QuickTracks which is called SonicFire Pro (which is also made by SmartSound). It gives you many more options than QuickTracks -- but again it will only use albums made by SmartSound and not your own music.

Ken thank you for the information.....While I was interested in using the smart sound files,. I have bigger problems with my X5 now. I have messed up my x5 program files. Due to frustration and ignorance the other day, I decided to remove the X5 and all files from my computer. I tried to go through my whole computer and deleate all the files pertaining to the x5 prior to going to program and feature section to remove the x5 from my computer. I reinstalled the x5 program. All my videos I had on my computer, when playing them in the video program, if I had put music in the video the music was gone. The video itself was ok' Not a major problem, because I could bring music back into the video. All my important videos, I had already back up on dvds. While checking my x5 program, I found ANOTHER problem. When clicking on graphic button, I now only have the colors. Object, frame, and animation are gone. Trying to use the smart sound has turned out not to be so great of a idea. I have so many questions about where to find these files, I don't know where to start. The boss (wife) has a large honey-do list I will be away for a few days. I am hoping someone can come up with some ideas, because my wife is starting to look for a loophole in our marriage certificate, because of the computer and videostudio X5. lol Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Jack

Keep your fingers away from the delete button. :) :)
When you say Objects Frames and Animation are gone, do you mean the thumbnails are gone, the library window for Objects Frames and Animation is there but empty.?

Try resetting the library by using :-
Settings – Library Manager – Reset Library

If you wish choose to Export the library that will save the library as a backup, create a new folder on the desktop to save the files.
Settings Library Manager - Export Library.

Hi Trevor, Yes the library window is empty, two other things I forgot to mention. In that same library, the music is gone also. I did get a notice concerning a file , WZSEO temp file, It gave the location, but it must be hidden, because I couldn't find it, or else its gone I will try your suggestion, but will wait until I see if there is something else I need to do. because of the things I forgot to mention. Thanks Jack

Hi Trevor, Brian and everyone that has tried to help me. I agree Trevor, I was way to quick to use the deleate button. I will be very careful in the future. I have had several people working on this problem, working on my video Studio program, I have a few questions. I am afraid that changes were made to the files in an attempt to fix my problem with the smart sound files. I have at least two locations that the files show up. I have noticed that different programs were listed to open files. When you go to properties, I see different programs. At this point, I don't know what is supposed to open what. Trevor I tried to use your Settings- library manager- Reset library. I could not get it to work, not surprising for me. Brian thank you for the suggestion about downloading Quick time player. Yesterday I tried to open the Video Studio X5, I couldn't, a notice came up, said files missing, after deleating the video program, (sigh) as I was told and reinstalling the program, I AM PLEASED to see the video studio program, running almost perfectly. with the exception of smart sound. I will live without that Thanks again for all the suggestions, ideas, and your time to try to help me...Jack

Hi

Good news that you have Video Studio working...

Smart Sound files, Auto Music is accessed via Video Studio.
You do not access the files via Windows Explorer.

Best I can describe Auto Music is like a plugin.

You play the Auto Music within Video Studio .
You do not see any actual sound files, just the Auto Music library

From there you can add the selected music to the timeline to any length you like.
That’s the beauty of Auto Music, they can be any length you wish.
