WinDVD Pro 11, Service Pack 3, What Changed?
I am asking, what did Service Pack 3, update or change in WinDVD Pro 11? Was it, a needed change to copyright protection or to provide region settings for BluRay disk playback? This is my reason for asking this. I have had a couple to several, new movie retail, Netflix, BluRay disks refusing to play on my Panasonic BR player, DMP-BDT500, starting the beginning of this year. One being the new movie release, Riddick, which the Panasonic player won't play, but when I used my PC BluRay player and WinDVD Pro 11, it told me an update was needed to play the disk, Service Pack 3, which I installed, but playing the disk didn't happen, until I set the Regions for DVD and BluRay, region 1 and A respectively. This is the first time, I ran into this setting, dealing with BluRay disks, and I had to do it in WinDVD Pro and my Windows 8.1 hardware settings. I, also, recently read, that, the region setting has always been there for BluRay disks, but wasn't used until, recently, on retail BluRay disks. My Panasonic BR player, says in the owner's manual, DVD region 1 and BluRay region A are pre-set, and there is no user or player setting for this feature. But, I am confused, since these disks refuse to play on the Panasonic player, which I have the latest firmware installed on, but WinDVD Pro 11 had an update to playback these current movie release BluRay disks. Previously, in 2013, both my Panasonic and PC would playback retail and Netflix BluRay disks with little issue.
