Hardware for X7 3D rendering

Post by nickielts »

Hi all, I'm a new member and just having a bit of silly question related to hardware side. I'm currently on a project in which I need to render a few 3D video and the render seems to be just too slow for me so I'm now looking for a harware solution to try and accelerate the render speed a bit. I have read the manual and system requirement which says a core i7 or AMD processor would help reduce the render time (as I understand). Down here I got a list of processor which I would be able to borrow and test on, which all to me seems a bit dated (but still strong I supposed). Could you by any chance help me point out ones that could really help me with the render time. In addition, will using SSD drive helps reduce the render time as well?
AMD FX-41XX / 43XX
AMD FX-61XX / 63XX
AMD FX-81XX / 83XX
AMD Dual Opteron 2216
Quad Dual-Core Opteron 8220
AMD Opteron 6234
Dual Intel Xeon 5150/ 5320/ 5420/ 5520/ 5639/ 5650
Intel Core E3 1230v2
Xeon E5-2620
Phenom II x4 840
AMD Phenom II x6 1045t
Intel Core i7 2600K
Sorry to bombard you all with such a long list but I just want to be able to pick out the most suitable one for my project. So any opinion/ experience/ knowledge from you guys would all be gold to me. Please dont hesitate to say it out. Any help is greatly appreciated

An interesting question and I am sure that you will get varied responses.
My personal system is listed next to the post. I can speak on consumer AMD products. The FX41xx and FX61xx, while will work, the FX8350 is what I use.
Now, on the server side, I would "think" that they would not work as well as the consumer CPU's. Mine is 8 cores running at (I slightly overclocked it) 4.3Ghz.

You can go HERE can compare CPU total performance and value. It is a good starting point.

I am guessing you have a decent video card.
