Pro X7 not .mov friendly?

Post by Mal3nga »

So, I've been looking for a new video editting software and I had heard really good things about this product. I decided to download the trial version to see how I liked it. The download went fine and I was playing around with it for a while and things were good. But when I went to use .mov files for the video I was making/playing around with, it doesn't have ANY sound! I don't know what it was! I put in other types of video formats (ex .mp4) and it worked out fine, so why is it not letting me hear anything from my .mov files? It can't be because this is the trial version so what's up? Anyone else have this problem?

Please let me know! I'm not tempted to buy the full thing if it can't deal with my .mov videos. :/

Hi

Welcome to the forums

Unfortunately there are complaints regarding Mov files including lack of audio.
Do a search of the forum to find more info.

You may be best to report your problem to Corels Facebook, as far as I know staffed by Corel employees, the more users complain the quicker Corel may find a fix.

I have to say there are many flavours of Mov files using various codecs.
For instance Video Studio cannot create a Mov h264

Some things to consider……….
1 / I assume you have Quicktime installed on your pc.
2 / Try re-naming the Mov to use “mp4” file extension, does that play ok
3 / Do not install Service Pack 1 (not sure if that is available for the trial version anyway.)
4 / Try setting the clips volume level to 99% rather than 100%
5 / Does the problem show in both Clip and Project playback?

Provide more details of your video file
Right click one of your clips in the timeline and select properties, what are they?
Create an image of that window to attach to your post.

Otherwise upload a sample to a sharing site, maybe DropBox so we can try your sample, but I think we will have the same issues
I use Windows 7, it may be a windows 8 issue???

Ultimately what are you intending to create, a DVD or video for the internet/pc playback?

MOV is a container, it is the Apple version of the PC AVI.
There are literally hundreds of versions of both, so it is not surprising some don't work.
What is the file type in the MOV?
You can use something like Gspot or avicodec to tell you.
