OS does not reognize PSP X6 as installed

Post by wacissa »

I installed PSP X6 Ultimate on a 64-bit machine running Win7. The OS lists the 32-bit version as installed and it runs, The OS does NOT list the 64-bit version as installed. However, it does run, but I am unable to upgrade to PSP X6 SP2, evidently the installer can only go so far before a failed install after a message that there are no updates required. Catch 22. I cannot uninstall the program to try again. I have tried several 3rd party uninstallers, without success. Anyone know how to modify the registry to make the OS recognize the installation? Or how to uninstall PSP? Thanks!

Type in regedit in the Windows search bar, then click to open. Go to HKEY CURRENT USER & open, scroll down to SOFTWARE, open, scroll down to COREL, open, and look for Paintshop Pro, open and look for X6. Right click and choose Export, and save the file to another folder on your system as a backup. Then right click again and choose Delete. Then go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE, scroll down to Software, then Corel, and then repeat the above steps for Paintshop Pro X6- the installer reference is in thes section. I can't guarantee this will work, but it is what I would do. Restart your computer after deleting the registry keys and then try to reinstall PSP X6. Instead of using the programs update feature you could also try going to Core's website and downloading the latest update from there.

If your software is still in the warranty period I would contact Corel support for help before trying the above registry edit.
