Paint Shop Pro X6 won't start
Hi everyone,
I've been using this copy of PSP X6 (64 bit) for a little while now without any problems... and come the time I urgently need to do something I am now having problems.
When I open PSP X6 it just hangs. I can't click on anything and the only way to close it is to open the control and use "End Process". Also, while it's sitting there crashed, it's hammering the network... maxing out the up and download. I had wondered whether it was downloading an update, but I left it for 2 hours yesterday and came back to find it no different.
I tried re-installing it yesterday and it seemed to work, but I went to open it this evening and it's happening again.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Any help would be gratefully received.
Rob

What happens when you reset it to its default state -- press Shift when you click the icon to open the program.

Aha, excellent! That seems to have cured it. I never knew you could do that.
Any idea what it might have been doing and why though?

Wow! The same thing just happened to me! Thank goodness you started this thread because this solution worked. But like you I am mystified as to why PSP would just gag all of a sudden. I see a sticky on here mentioning service packs for X6, but when you click on the links it just takes you back to the main support page... makes no sense. Sigh...

Re: Paint Shop Pro X6 won't start
There seems to be something strange going on with the North American Corel links. The links you refer to take me direct to the Service Pack page -- at least for me here in Oceania: http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=7100001

Re: Paint Shop Pro X6 won't start
I just checked and none of the service pack links to any PSP version work. Like tvwxman said, you are just sent back to the main support page when you click on any of the links.

I don't have any problem accessing the update page either. Get them from this link, the same as Ken's.

And I should clarify that, using that link, I can also start the downloads by pressing the relevant Download button. Download commences -- though I cancel it since I already have the patches downloaded and installed... So there is obviously something Corel has done to block access in certain regions, though we have not been informed why this might have happened.
I have contacted the Corel exec who looks after PSP to see if he can clarify what is happening...

Re: Paint Shop Pro X6 won't start
I wonder if you have to be logged in for the download links to work. I haven't tried that. I don't see any "buttons" on Patches & Updates page, only text links. Nope, I just logged in and they send you to the same Patches & Updates page which doesn't work. Plus, once I get to that page, it opens in a new tab and I'm no longer logged in.

I agree that the links are screwed up. I used Ken's link and it took me to the main support page but I was able to navigate from there to the updates. Here's the link in case it helps someone. http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/support/updates/

That link also works for me... though the appearance of the page is a bit different from the one I see when using the link I gave above. However, as far as I can see, the difference is only cosmetic, possibly caused by a different font.

Re: Paint Shop Pro X6 won't start
Hi guys
Corel do seem to be working on the server at least things are changing
Normally I would find the Service Packs from a page similar to this, listing all corel products.
http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index.jsp?pgid=800161
I also found a newer looking page listing individual programs, this is for VS X7
http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/support/updates/
The forum has also changed with links at the top left side for support to individual programs, these seem to access the newer support pages, however use the Support link and you get the older service pack info pages?? Go figure….
Maureen
The two links you provided in the sticky take you to the same page containing both SP1 and 2

The links on this page do work for me. They only have patches for versions X4-X6 though. That other page went all the way back to X2 for patches.Kathy_9 wrote:I agree that the links are screwed up.
