Why Does Image Size Change?

Post by DoctorT »

Hi!

I am using Windows 7 and PSP X6.

1) In Windows, to capture an image on the screen, I click on PrtScr.
2) In PSP, I paste the image from the clipboard (Edit > As New Image). The image size is 26.7” by 15”.
3) I use the Crop Tool to crop the image. The image size is now 8.4” by 3.5”.
4) I resize the image (Image > Resize). The image size is now 4.5” by 1.8”. Which is what I want.
5) I copy the image to the clipboard (Edit > Copy).
6) In Word, I paste the image from the clipboard (Home > Paste). The pasted image is now only 2.7” by 1.1” or 60% of the original.

Why?

Thank you!

How many pixels is it? Also what is the DPI?

Keep in mind inches are arrived at mathematically, they have nothing to do with the actual size of your image. You can change the number of inches used without changing a single pixel in the image.

Size in Inches Wide = Width / DPI

Size in Inches High = Height / DPI

Microsoft Word might have a different DPI ratio than PSP is using.

So don't look at inches, look at pixels and Resolution (DPI). If you can figure out the resolution Word is using you can adjust the size of your image to match.

DPI = Pixels/Inches
