Images trashed?

Post by oldmaven »

Sometimes, when editing images in ASP 2 (especially when raising the Exposure), the image appears trashed: nearly featureless, with apparent raster lines and colors unrelated to the original. Usually I can fix this by Undoing the last step or two, but not always.

I have been trying to upload an example, but have had difficulties, so I will upload as part of a Reply.

I apparently can post only the .XMP. Will try in additional replies to post the original JPEG (which looks OK in IrfanView) and an exported JPEG (with "bad" in the file name) showing how it looks in ASP2.

When I try to attach a JPEG, the "add file" button turns red but nothing else happens.

Is OpenCL on?

Are you trying to upload the full image or just a screenshot?

I was trying to upload the actual JPEGs. Should I perhaps convert them into something smaller?

Just a hunch, it might be too large, so small size or screenshot would be the next try.

Here's a screenshot. The trashed photo thumbnail looks different from the full view. The actual shot should look much like the thumbnail just above the trashed one.

I've seen results like this when OpenCL is in use.
Reducing the OpenCL involvement fixed it for me.

I've never knowingly used OpenCL, and Task Manager doesn't show it as a running process.

Task manager is irrelevant.
What are your preference settings for hardware acceleration?

Yep, OpenCL was checked. I also got a reminder that it's been a while since I checked whether I still have the latest graphics-card driver. Will go online at NVidia and see.

Thanks!
