How do I make cropping default to a variable rather than a fixed proportion? (ASP 2)

Load an image with your defaults, set the crop to unlocked and save your defaults.
make sure crop is not active in the saved defaults but only the flag for custom/unlocked.

Edit, Settings

then either:
Set RAW defaults
or
Set Camera Defaults

Right click on thumb, settings, save defaults.
