Group/Join Video and audio

Post by jamesd1 »

When a video is imported that has audio, the are together unless you split them.

If I have a video and a separately imported audio track, how do I join/group them?

Put the video in the main timeline (or one of the overlay tracks), and put the audio into one of the audio tracks (Music or Voice). Then go to Share and choose an output format. If you want to retain the original properties of the video file in the new output file, then make sure -- in Preferences > General -- that the box beside "Show message when inserting first video clip" is ticked. Then when you start your project and insert the video, you should receive a message asking if you want the Project Properties to match those of the clip. Click OK. Then when you have finished editing, you can go to Share > Same as Project Properties or Share > Same As First Clip. This works quite well with high definition video if you have VS X7, but with X6 and earlier, it mainly only works with standard definition video and only one or two high def formats.
