After Shot Pro on OpenSuse 12.3 KDE Linux NEF's

Post by ajohnw »

I am using AfterShot Pro on 30 day trial. No problems but I finally got round to trying it on a Nikon NEF raw file from a D7000. I usually use right click open with and that has worked on several other camera raw files but for some reason it starts up but doesn't show the file. If I use the menu and file open the same thing happens.

Any clues? Not long to go before the trial ends and I have to make my mind up.

D7000 should be fine.
But has thins thing been mangled by Nikon software? Is it straight out of cam?

Straight out of the camera. They open without any problem with other raw converters. :D Not too happy with the results of those though which is why I'm trying ASP.

I just downloaded sample D7000 files from DPReview and imaging-resource.
Both work fine here, the log file shows:

When I first read John's message, I wondered if perhaps there was a case problem with the extension. The other question that occurs to me is whether he was trying to read the raws in a directory into which the other converters had written an xml file. I had that problem back in the days when I was trying out Bibble against other raw converters. Try reading the .NEFs from an otherwise empty directory?
