Since my last post regarding this issue I've done a lot and I cannot go into the detail thought I made screenshots, I'm not going to post them again. To keep it as short as possible I'll try to explain what happened.
I used my original way of importing VSPs and got the same "Debug Assertion Failed" error. This was a total new project. I just went on by pressing "ignore" lots of times as the screen popped up and manage to complete the task.
I then did a test and used "batch convert" with only 2 VSPs to Video files.
Then I tried to create a BD ISO by importing the video clips but it resulted in a error "Failed to create a VOB folder"
However, the Batch converted video files were once again rendered to the working folder ( DMF_Temp/BURN_Temp/CvtedTitle ) which means it took some time to do this duplication of a task.
The problem is I doubled the space on my hard drive as the batch converted video files and the "converted titles" are nearly the same size.
If I used this method on my current project, this is what it all adds up to when it comes to space:
My source file (Videos and Photo's): 80.7 GB
Proxy files created for Full HD videos as VS cannot handle them well without proxy: 65GB
In the working folder the BURN-Temp folder after rendering: 19.2 GB
The completed BD ISO file: 20.1GB
(If you choose creating BD folders, the same figures applies)
Total space used185GB
The only files that VS creates during these processes that you can remove in VS is the proxy files. The so called Temp files stays until you remove them on purpose. I know VS is not the only programme that works in this way but there are lots of people that are not aware of all this HDD space that's eaten up by Video Studio.
I cannot waste time by creating the video files and add another 20GB for those videos.
To me there is no sense in doubling the time and space by converting these VSPs to videos.
I then took only one of the two videos (only a 9 minute project) and It rendered successfully to BD folders and BD ISO as well.
I'm now convinced that there must be something wrong with Video Studio X8 and I hope Corel will clear this matter ASAP.
This is quite a long explanation and I hope that it can at least help someone that runs into the same trouble. When I initially got the error I searched the internet for answers and found one exact match of someone that had the same problem but it was on a Japanese blog and I could not follow their discussions.
Thank for everyone that tried to help.

Re: What file format exporting AVCHD back to Sony HDR-SR12E
That is a bit confusing, particularly if you were trying to create an ISO file, and it talks about a folder ... Moreover, a VOB folder which can only refer to a standard definition DVD and not a Blu-Ray disc (BD). So if this was the actual error message and not a typo, it suggests to me it has something to do with the changes Corel has made to the BD authoring end of X8. I'm afraid I don't have time right now to go back over the other pages in this very long thread. But did you actually buy the Blu-Ray burning module when you bought X8? If you didn't, then the only authoring you can do -- and which that error message seems to suggest -- is DVDs and not BDs...Then I tried to create a BD ISO by importing the video clips but it resulted in a error "Failed to create a VOB folder"
EDIT: I just looked at the previous page and see that you do indeed have the Blu-Ray burning module. So I am even more confused as to why you got an error message referring to VOBs when you were trying to create a BD ISO

Hi Luna
Apologies for my delayed reply, I seem to have missed your previous post????
Batch Convert
If you set your Project Properties to match your Video files properties, (which is something you should be doing anyway) Batch Convert will use those properties by default, providing you choose the correct "Save as Type".
Your second image shows the project properties as ok.
Batch Convert ---- Provided you choose Transport Stream and not MPEG files, then the render will use your video files properties. Your video files are using Motion Transport Stream
See the image below using my Panasonic AVCHD.MTS files properties.

Re: What file format exporting AVCHD back to Sony HDR-SR12E
Hi Ken and Trevor,
Firstly I did buy the Blu ray module (I don't know why it was incorporated with version X7 but now you have to buy it extra), if you don't install that the option for BDs is not available. See image.
And then Trevor I now see the place were you choose Save As Mpeg transport stream files. I missed that with the batch conversion but my projects' setting were set to that. See Attached.
On another note:
It seems that we are moving away from media discs and I can understand why as all modern TVs accept USB port for watching from Flash and Hard drives. Somewhere I saw that you can render a Video file with working menu which to me is like watching an ISO. So I guess that's in any way we are going in the future. I don't now in what way you are going to give the product to the client, a Flash drive? I wonder is this is why you have to buy the module for BD rendering separately as the latest PCs come without optical drives! Any way.
Thanks for you help

Re: What file format exporting AVCHD back to Sony HDR-SR12E
Hi Luna
Using Batch Convert was a means for you to render all VSP to a new video file, then use those to burn a disc.
Can you confirm that using Video files instead of VSP’s does cure your problems.
Or do you have the same problems, please try creating Blu-ray Folders not Disc Images.
X8 is the first version to allow Create Disc Image, earlier versions allowed Create Blu-Ray folders.
You need a Bluray Media Player on PC to play the menu structure. You may not be able to find one of those, that’s a different story?
I create Blu-Ray Folders, then use ImgBurn to burn the disc.
Yes USB media to play the movie is probably the way to go, I do that as a test then burn a disc. But no reason why I cannot save to a large usb memory. Unfortunately most USB connections do not support the menu, although one of the forum members did comment on being able to play menus maybe PlayStation, certainly not a standard TV?

Re: What file format exporting AVCHD back to Sony HDR-SR12E
Hi Trevor,
I'm fully aware of the BD ISO that's available since version X8, in fact I had it on " the wish list for new versions" twice. I had the same error with my first project that I finished with X8 a month ago when I tried the ISO option for the first time. Creating BD folder had the same result. I've spent three days to finalize the disc.
You do not need any special software to play the ISO, I just mount the image into a virtual drive an play back with Corel WinDVD as if a physical disk is inserted, even VLC is capable to play back the menus. Indeed I struggled more to find a Blu ray player that could play from the folders. I had to buy WIN DVD to do so.
I've done BD since it came available in 2011 and newer turned back to DVDs, as it gives you the great Full HD experience that my cameras offer and also did the BD folders and Imageburn (great nifty app) to complete the task. I used to first create an ISO with Image burn and delete the BD folders. There are so many free common software that can write discs from ISO than doing it from BD folders and the ISO is only one "simple" file. Easy to copy for backups etc.
But it all comes to personal preference, I just want the program to work in the way its meant to work or they must leave it or fix it.
At least I'm done with this one and I can gladly deliver to my client.
Thanks for everything
