Hi, All,
I can't find an answer to this anywhere and hoping to find some help here.
Running PSP X6 16.2.0.20x64 on Win 8.1 64-bit, 8GB RAM.
Every time I try and use the Smart Selection Brush, the program stops working and I have to close it through task manager. Same thing if I use the 32-bit version. Any thoughts on what's going on? It worked when I was in the trial version and it's what prompted me to outlay money on the update instead of sticking with X5. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, but no luck, and no info in the support pages.
Thanks for any insights.

I too have Win 8.1 64 bit, but can't replicate your problem, despite several efforts. The brush appears to work properly for me, and X6 also continues working. So can you please describe in a little more detail exactly what you are doing when the program stops working e.g. can you make a selection but then it stops? Or does it stop even when you try to make the selection or during the selection?

Re: X6 - Smart Selection Brush Crashes Program
After opening the SSB, I'll start to go over the area I want to select, but instead of doing as it should and snapping to defined areas, it acts more like a paint brush that draws a line that happens to have marquis dashes, and when I stop, the marquis is not marching, it's static. I can close the image and open a different image, but then I can't select any other tool - the program stays on the SSB and I can't do anything else except close via Task Manager. Also, if I hold Ctrl and go back over, it "erases" the "selection" as if I was using the eraser, it doesn't snap to anything as it goes.
I thought maybe it was due to multiple layers, image size, or low contrast in the image I was working with, so I tried a small .jpg with more contrast and better edges and had the same problem - it didn't select anything, it just kind of brushed over them and left a long line with static marquis lines.
When I'm at my machine again (currently on my husband's computer where the brush works properly (running on Win 7)), I'll see if I can get some screen shots or something to show better what's going on. I'm stymied, and I've only seen one other reference to the issue on an Amazon review (which wasn't much help).

Re: X6 - Smart Selection Brush Crashes Program
So of course now that I'm back on the machine that was having problems, it is working properly on all images I had tested with.
Maybe there was a background process causing problems? I'll keep an eye on it and if it acts up again, try and get more info.
