garbled video output

Post by jimmythesquirrel »

Hi, I have been happily creating videos using VideoStudio since I downloaded the trial two days ago. Everything has worked perfectly until today. I have created a video using all of the same techniques that I have successfully used in the past, and it renders perfectly in the preview window, but every time I try to export it, I get completely garbled output... the video and audio skip around randomly (sections appear out of sequence, and the audio does not match the video).

I have tried to export this file dozens of times, trying every format and setting I can think of, but every time I get the same exact garbled video.

Any help much appreciated!

What are the source file formats?
Are they any different to ones you have used before, as in come from a different camera or website etc?
Have you done any updating or removing of anything on the pc since it last worked ok?

If you start a new project with the same files does this work ok or give you a garbled output?
If you start a new project with different files does this give you a garbled result?
Are your old projects still working ok?

Something has changed, we just need to track down what it is.

Thanks for your reply.

The source was a series of TIF images that I brought in via capture/stop motion/import. This created a UISX file which I inserted to the video track, and then I cut this clip into pieces, and interspersed still images in order o create pauses in the video. There was also a soundtrack and an overlay track.

I am not certain, but it is quite possible that I installed or uninstalled programs while I was working on the file (or at least in between the time when I created the file and the time when I exported the video).

I recreated the video in question using the same TIF files, and managed to successfully export a video. I did not use the same UISX file.

Are there particular things I should avoid doing while editing a file?

Thanks!

Sometimes these things just happen, it's computing :)
So, as you could make a proper file by redoing it, we just put this down to one of those things and not worry about it, as we have99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of NOT finding the cause.

If something goes wrong, restart pc, restart programme, restart project and if all is good, ok.
If not, we need to look in more detail.
Removing programmes can cause problems, especially if they are video/audio related as they may remove codecs etc that you need to use.
