X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
I spent all morning downloading 80+ HD templates for use on a new project.
They downloaded and installed fine.
When I went into X7 and tried one template, looked good.
Did new project tried the 2nd template and X7 froze.
Did ctrl+alt+del killed X7 in task manager
Went back in and all of the HD templates are missing!
Is there some way to rebuild the index so they show up again? I can't re-download them since the computer thinks they have already been downloaded.
I really need some help with this, I have lost several hours of work already trying to fix it.

Re: X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
Hi
Try resetting the program by re-naming this folder 17.0 to “17.0 copy”
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
This should reset your library?
The folder may be hidden by your operating system so you will have to change the options via Tools Folder Options – View (show hidden files and folders.)
Can you remember which instant project template caused the problem ?.

I did as you suggested but there was no change. I am still missing all of the HD templates.

Re: X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
Hi Rich
The downloaded template folders are saved here, they have unusual names that don’t describe the content, makes it a little difficult in identifying them.
C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads
After download you are prompted to install, the installed folders are saved here, at least they are given appropriate names.
C:\Users\Trevor\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplate
What do you see in the above folder………..
Any “Instant Project template folder” within VSPTemplates folder should populate the library the next time you run the program.
Different types will populate different library pages, HD Projects holding some with Custom holding others.
Assuming the folders do exist you can manually import by using the Import folder icon, You import VPT files.

I looked for C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads and C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel Videostudio Pro Ultimate X7\Downloads\ and I don't have either folder.lata wrote:Hi Rich

I do have a VSPTemplate folder but it contains only 14 templates that I can currently see. I just don't understand how they would just disappear like that.
Any other ideas? Is there any way I can re-download them?
Thanks,
Rich

Re: X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
Sorry Rich, I should have mentioned that the folders may be hidden by the operating systemlata wrote:I looked for C:\ProgramData\Corel\Downloads and C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel Videostudio Pro Ultimate X7\Downloads\ and I don't have either folder.
Open any folder
Choose to view the menu bar from the organise icon
then Tools - Folder options
View tab
tick show Hidden Files and Folders
You should now be able to see the Program Data structure to locate the download folder, be prepared to be confused.
If you do find the downloads, and there will be a lot, the folders have two files, an .EXE file and a HTM, double click the exe file to install.
That should create a folder in the VSPTemplate folder.
Copy that folder to another location as a backup.
Running VS should add that template to the IP library
and same here --- I just don't understand how they would just disappear like that. ?

Re: X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
OK thanks for the hidden files info. I have found the template folder in my documents. So the folder is C:\Users|RichardB\Documents\VideoStudio Pro\VSPTemplatelata wrote: That should create a folder in the VSPTemplate folder.
Copy that folder to another location as a backup.
It contains all of the templates that I downloaded and installed, they just do not appear in VideoStudio.
I also found all of the downloaded files.
How should I proceed?

Re: X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
Hi Rich
There are about 80 instant project folders, at least the ones you downloaded and installed. Most will show in the HD library page, others in the HTML pages?
The problem I find is not knowing what the template does till you have downloaded and installed it, and if you don’t like it you are simply wasting time. Maybe a preview on the download page would be useful.
I mentioned in an earlier reply……….
“Assuming the folders do exist you can manually import by using the Import folder icon, You import VPT files.”
Still very strange why they disappeared, and will it happen again?
Oh by the way, each instant project folder contains a VSP, a project file, open that in VS and you will see what the template looks like. Probably just as easy to import one at a time.
Although I would have thought we could force VS to import all by resetting the program, but do you want to import all in one go?
I’ll give it a go to see what I can come up with?

When I click on the import function it says that the template already exists, which is true since it resides in the template directory, however I cannot see it or use it. Should I clear the template directory and re-try importing? Also is there a way to do them all at once? It seems that the import function is only one at a time.

Re: X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
Hi Rich
That does not make sense, if a folder exists in the VSPTemplate folder and not showing in the library then you should be able to import it?
I have just tried this by deleting from the library, I can re-import the templates.
You may be best t re-install the program selecting to remove all personal data when un-installing.
OK try this first
Close Video Studio
1 / Locate VSPTemplates folder, re-name to “VSPTemplate copy”
2 / re-name this folder 17.0 to “17.0 copy”
C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
Running Video Studio should create a new 17.0 folder
Accessing the Instant Project library should populate the library with VS default templates and create a new VSPTemplate folder
3 / Move the Instant Templates folders from the copy folder to the new VSPTemplates folder.
That should populate the library with the new templates.
For what its worth I have just run through the above procedure without problems. Not all 80 about 30..........
However if you have a corrupt or problem template then that may cause a problem?
Do not install the "4in 1 fade" template, there may be a problem there.

Renaming 17.0 in the Corel Videostudio Pro (x64) directory and re-copying the templates did the trick. I now have all of my templates!
Many Thanks for your help on this! You made my day.

Re: X7 HD Project Templates Disappeared
I've been working with X7 Ultimate for a year and had seen my instant projects templates disappear from Videostudio interface without any known reason.
The template are still stored on my drive C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\ VSPTemplate.
This is where they get located by the Corel installer.
My advice: once you have downloaded and installed all the templates you'd like to keep, archive this folder as it allows you to instantly restore them if you need to re-install VideoStudio from scratch, for instance.
Anyway, when VideoStudio crashes, it seems that a file gets corrupted.
VideoStudio knows the templates have been installed/ exist and doesn't allow you to re-install them but you can't see them in the interface.
A previous post in this chain pointed me to the folder C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\17.0\en-US\UserTemplateStyle_Classic
This folder contains a lot of sub-folders, each one dedicated to a template. It points to where the templates are installed (C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\ VSPTemplate).
I deleted all the subfolders to force VideoStudio to rebuild the template database, and it worked.
I prefer this solution versus renaming/ deleting the whole C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\17.0 folder. If you do that, you lose all the Media imports who've done, your transition favorites...
I hope this helps.
PS:
- in the paths above, replace [username] by yours
- I installed the 64-bit version, hence my path to "x64" folders. adjust to your own installation.

Hi Edena
And welcome to the forums
Thanks for the information.
Yes indeed emptying the UserTemplateStyle_Classic folder would reset the instant Projects library only.
Must keep that in mind so as not to affect the media libraries.
