Black screen on some imported files

When I import some AVI or Divix files they only produce a black screen. These same files play perfectly fine on Windows Media player 10.

On the Preview or play screen they work perfectly fine. On the bottom thumbnales the image is black. when I change the thumbnale image it stays black. When I burn to disc and play back all that comes up is a black screen.

Please help

1. the codec of your AVI may not be supported by MovieFactory.

2. Divx is supported but I dunno why you are having problems with it. DivX6 codec is not supported by Ulead software.

3. give the properties of your AVI/DivX. right click on the clip while in MovieFactory (unedited clip) and select Media Clip Properties.

"not accessible" means the codec of your AVI is not supported. your only option is to convert the AVI to MPEG or supported AVI using another editor.
