MXF Container

Post by snowstorm »

Good morning

I will be filming using a Canon Pro XF 305 camcorder onto SD Cards
I intend to film using the following features=50Mbps/1280x720/60p/16.9
Canon uses the MXF (Material Exchange Format) Container
I wish to convert the MXF container and edit using VS Ultimate Prox6
The project will be burned to BluRay Discs

What would be my best choice to convert the MXF container in order to edit (whithout loosing quality).....
Any suggestion as to which free Converter I can find on the Internet

Many thanks in advance

I don't think there is any free converter for .MXF. I use WinXHD dfr Sony EX1R MXF (,MP4) files to get them in VS.

free converter : handbrake , MPEG Streamclip, ffMPEG, Any video covnerter.
Why you want to convert your MXF files? for edit software? or playback on your devices?
as for me , I shot my camera with a Canon camera plus a external mic. So there are two audios in my video, I want to keep them all ,but those free converter I have tried can't help me and I also tried the Canon plugin . Not sure if anyone has the same problem like me. But I do find a way to solve this , I used a one called imixmxf to do my job. and to be honest, I usually convert them to prores 422 to import them into FCPX to do some following edits. And with the help of this app, both two audios are kept.
