Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
The windows installer finds the existing installation and uninstalls it, but then it exits instead of further installing the new version.
So one has to run it again in order to process with installation.
Somehow diappointing. Might not be that difficult to chain both uninstall & install processes.
Regards,
J.-Luc

Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
I cannot install the new update 2.0.2.10.
Worse still, having meticulously followed Greg's instruction:
"Important: If you are running Windows, you must uninstall your current version of AfterShot Pro 2 before installing"
I find that I can't re-install the current (previous) version either
I get the following InstallShield Error Message everytime
(I have even restarted Windows and Run as Administrator before running anything else)
Help Please! I am bereft without ASP2...

Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
Thanks for the suggestion, J.-Luc.
For complicated reasons I don't have a System Restore Point to go back to.
I think the problem is some sort of corruption with InstallShield either in the program / version or in the Registry.
Joseph has googled a possible solution involving a registry cleanup.
Anybody have any similar experience?

Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
I'm pleased to say that after a tech support engineer rang me for an hour from Canada, I have now installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of AfterShot Pro 2.0.2.10.
He disabled my firewall and antivirus software and some other start-up progams, downloaded again using a different browser, and the install worked.
Now to see what's changed and improved, especially in the way of stability...

This is somewhat normal. If you have an install that you'd wish to uninstall but the uninstaller is corrupt this is a solution to uninstall, run the installer.FalCT60 wrote:The windows installer finds the existing installation and uninstalls it, but then it exits instead of further installing the new version.

Basically this is less a patch and more of reinstalling a newer version.

Hello,
Well, if the uninstaller is corrupted (might be what happened to Tadjo ?), I first try to use system restoration if possible.
Then, if I can't (or don't want), I launch registrar, make a registry backup, wipe anything related to ASP within the registry, the programs and the data, restart the computer and restart from scratch.
This used to work with many other software. Asp would only be one more.

Just need to get the RAW support for the Fuji XT1, XPro1, XE1, XE2, X100S cameras and I will be happy.
Still learning after all these years!

Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
The latest ASP for Windows x64 doesn't handle Pentax K-3 PEF well.
It shows the thumbnail correctly but shows an error message, "No Image Available", instead of the picture in Image View. Of course, I can't adjust the PEF.
I confirm ASP processes Canon PowerShot S110 CR2. That's why ASP apparently runs well.
I'm looking forward to the bug fix.

Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
Great... I can't try it because my trial version (which I tried ONCE, only to find out my camera wasn't supported) has expired.
I'm certainly not paying full price for this just to test it. I already paid full price for ASP 1.x fairly recently.
Sucks to be me...

Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
Good hint. This means you must not test the trial until your camera is supported,
otherwise once it is supported, you cannot test anymore ...
For me it is actually simple - no Fuji-X-support - no trial - no upgrade - no money for Corel ...
My impression is that it won't take too long until Darktable and Rawtherapee will support X-Trans, so hurry up Corel !

Re: Available Now! AfterShot Pro Update 2.0.2.10
Actually someone pointed out to me that you can just create a new user account in Windows and use that to test. The 30-day limit on the trial starts anew for each new user. Kinda kludgy, but at least I was finally able to test it out.
The built-in noise removal tool is horrible. It breaks the image down into a bunch of tiles, and then does noise-reduction independently in each of those tiles. So my high-noise 24MP images end up with 9 obvious rectangular tiles all over the image that don't blend at all and show a clear seam between each tile. It's really awful. Worst noise reduction I've ever used, and I've used many over the years.
On the upside, it's nice to finally have my K-3 supported.

Then set your camera to use the DNG raw format instead. It works fine in this release. I've been using DNG on Pentax cameras since the K-7, when that format first became an option. DNG files have better compatibility with most photo processing software (except DxO Optics, for some bizarre reason).fukapon wrote:The latest ASP for Windows x64 doesn't handle Pentax K-3 PEF well.

Thanks. I confirmed it on 2.0.2.10 and 2.0.3.25.GoremanX wrote:Then set your camera to use the DNG raw format instead. It works fine in this release.
But I want to choose PEF because I use other software including DxO. Others supporting K-3 perfectly process PEF.
