DVD Menu Problem Video Studio X6

Post by opus2801 »

I just finished my first project. While creating the DVD menu I ran into a problem with the Currently Displayed Menu defaulting to the Main Menu theme during playback. For example I created my menu for Bob's Movie which appears in the "Currently Displayed Menu" drop down. If I select it and then play preview, it will default back to the Main menu and not show the menu that I created.

Any help you can provide with this is appreciated.

Hi

The Currently Displayed Menu assumes you have created a submenu aka Chapter menu, second option in the list.
The top option is the Main Menu aka “title menu”

Make sure you set the main/title menu to your liking.

When you play the DVD the Main Menu will show first, selecting a Title will access the Sub-menu (Chapter Menu)

How many titles have you added to the burner module on the first window.
If only one, you can hide that menu, then playing the disc will access the Submenu.
From the edit tab click Advanced Settings and deselect Add Title Menu.

Thanks for the quick response. The situation I have is as you describe it with the Title menu and Chapter menu. I'm not sure what you mean by how many titles have been added to the burner module. Perhaps you can elaborate on that. I also deselected the add title menu in the edit tab. However when I burned the DVD and played it on my DVD player, It showed the title menu first and then went to the chapter menu. Is it possible to not have the title menu play?

One last question, when you say get the title menu to your liking, does that mean with the links for the chapters or just the title of the DVD.
In other words can I make the title menu look like the sub menu so I don't need 2 menus.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi
Burner module
From the first window you can add files to the timeline, these show as thumbnails.
These are your titles / videos, for each file added you get a link or thumbnail on the first menu page, this is the Main Menu.
You can also create Chapter points (a chapter menu) for each file.
This creates a sub-menu aka Chapter Menu.

If you only have the single file then the main menu is of little use as clicking the link simply opens the Chapter Point Menu

You can hide the Main Menu from the edit tab click Advanced Settings and deselect Add Title Menu. This option is only available if you have the single file.

When you play the disc the chapter menu should show, you should not see the main menu.

From the last window choose to create a disc image, this will create a ISO file.
You can play this file using VLC Media Player.
If you are happy with the results burn the iso to disc, Tools – Burn from Disc Image.
