Clean Install PaintShop Pro x6 Ultimate

Post by Graphics4fun »

Hello
I just received my new box version of PaintShop Pro X6 Ultimate and want to do a clean and problem free install the first time. (hope, hope and hoping). I have currently been using PaintShop Pro Ultimate Photo X2 with patch for running Windows 7 64 bit professional. My question is about uninstalling X2 first. What is the best approach and what about my saved brushes and swatches. I am a little apprehensive since X2 is working fine except not able to utilize the memory of the 64 bit. So I thought it is time to upgrade and hoping I am not making a mistake.

Any help too do this correctly would be very much appreciated. I just fixed a display driver issue and don't want any more problems.

Thanks. Graphics 4 fun

You do not need to uninstall X2.
If you do and you have problems with X6 you may have problems getting X2 back again.
Best to install X6 and continue using X2 as you slowly work your way into using X6 . That way you will not put youself in a position of being without PSP.

I have PSP8, X2, X3, X4, X5 and X6 all installed on my main computer and laptop.
I use X2 for speed of processing and reliability for basic images. I use X4 for text work and other features not present in X2.
Slowly getting to use X6 and appreciate its features.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

And remember with X6 that you can install both the 32 and 64 bit versions, though only one will open at a time. It is probably advisable to install both versions since a lot of the third party filters will only work with the 32 bit version.

Thank you for replying. Seems like very sound advice, at least for the short term until I know all is well. I think I’ve seen it said elsewhere where multiple versions were installed. I’m just of the mindset that the old version should be removed first to keep everything nice neat and clean, but maybe this time I think I’ll take your advice and leave it alone.

Do you have any thoughts knowledge or advice regarding the install of X6 and the directories for the PSP folders when installing with a previous version already installed.
And yes I do plan on installing for both 32 bit and 64 bit. I am looking forward to using X6 but not in a rush.

Thanks to you both hartpaul and Ken
