Yes, that's what I thought; can i ask why you chose C1 over DxO Optics? I should like to be able to use DxO's fantastic but slow (not so important for a pensioner like me!) noise reduction. But I haven't yet found any 64-bit software that runs well under WINE, and my current system isn't man enough to run a suitable VMC1 Pro on Win7 in Virtualbox on Linux host is working solution. And it works pretty well.
One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?

Nope, like others didn't see a reason to.
I moved to Photo Ninja (32bit version works perfect with wine), I did this move mainly because I bought an Fuji X-trans camera and ASP doesn't support it. i still use ASP for photo management until I find a better solution. I have to say I miss the speed of ASP but PN has so much better image quality that I don't see my self going back fully but I would buy an upgrade if it supports X-trans (bc of speed and able to work on relatively slow hardware and better photo management).

It totally make sense. And as you said, Saving time is an important consideration. This is why I'm staying away from windows. But since I cannot afford to re-mortgage the house in order to buy a Mac (specially if it's just for using 1 software) , I stick to linux. I prefer giving money for a software like ASP than for a new iMac whaterver.andysalay wrote: For me, it is more important to get my images perfect easily and save a time, than working on a preferred OS.
I'm not familiar to the Virtualbox thing. I never had the time to learn about these things. I'd like to keep things as simple and stable as possible. Maybe it's a mistake?
Thanks for your feedback,
Take care

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
I'm sorry but I'm jumping ship too. AfterShot Pro 2 was not just underwhelming, but a waste of money. OpenCL was slower than in v1, I couldn't get V2 to run for any length of time without crashing, and frankly after nearly three weeks of trying to make it work I gave up and requested a refund.
So I no longer have ASP2. I'm switching to Darktable, incidentally, after looking at a few representative sample photos (from my archive) and seeing how much better the image quality was.
See you around guys, it's been a fun ride.

Still on V1 - as I am lucky and my camera is supported, I did not see substantial advantages in V2, especially as Noise Ninja is gone now, and I already had difficulties to get clean high-iso results from the E-M5 *with noise ninja*. And what I see from lightroom, conversion results are better than with ASP.
It's mainly my love for linux and ASP's speed that keeps me sticking with ASP.

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
I haven't upgraded - I did download and install the trial version, but there's just not enough there to justify an upgrade, and the discount for existing customers was pretty small.
The new version looks a bit cleaner, has more camera support, is 64-bit (thankfully no more messing around with the irritation of 32 bit compatibility libraries), and has a few other small changes. On the whole however, not much has changed. There's effort going into OpenCL, which I really don't care about, many other bugs remain unaddressed, Athentech noise reduction is a step down from Noise Ninja, and overall image quality is still not up to par. I would have been tempted by the HDR, but that's Windows only, which is a huge negative, as not only is it something I can't use, but it means they aren't currently developing for all platforms equally. I'm not interested in Windows, so any moves that make me think Linux support is being made second class makes me very reticent to give them any money. Why they'd target Windows first is an interesting question - obviously there's a lot of market share there, but I'd assume that all of those potential customers are currently using another commercial Windows offering, so will have to be enticed away, which I'd imagine will be an uphill battle.
So, I'm still half watching, and I'm not ruling out upgrading - but I'm no longer willing to give Corel the benefit of the doubt. If they want my money, they have to come up with the goods first, and demonstrate a real commitment to a proper development schedule, including treating Linux as a first class platform. I hope they do it, but I'm not holding my breath any more.

Not only did I not upgrade, but today removed Aftershot Pro 1 from my hard drive.
