One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
So Folks, one month later, at the trial expiration time… did you upgrade ASP ? Or not ?
As I'm concerned it's definitely not. I'm remaining with ASP 1.1.1.10
NB : what a pity this forum don't let us to create surveys. Results would have been easier to read.

Darktable 3. Bye bye aftershot.
Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
Didn't even bother to download the trial version. I waited a couple days to see the feedback here and figured it wasn't worth the effort.
If Corel had made the upgrade price lower I might have popped for it just to get the new license. But with nothing really new except issues with the new NR and a $60 upgrade price grab I decided to sit this one out.
Hopefully Corel will wake up and either lower the upgrade price or release something that warrants paying 75% of the new retail price.
Until then, like you I'm sticking with v1.1 of ASP.

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
No. I looked at it. Cost wasn't a real issue. But the white balance issue is a problem for me. I simply want something that works every time without having to fine tune every edit.
In the meantime I discovered a 'better' converter.
But I'll keep watching as I think ASP has a lot of promise and old habits die hard.
regards

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
I update, mainly as my primary OS is Linux and RAW processors are few. The cost is not an issue for me nor the lack of 64 bit plugins as they will come in time. For myself I've found no major issues preventing me from upgrading.
Thanks.

No way..
Moved on to acdsee Pro 7. So much more powerful than ASP2
I actually would have updated to ASP2 blindly on the opening week if it was more like a real V2.

I updated because of the 64 bit functionality. I assume the problems, especially those of plugins, will be ironed out soon. As it stands I have no major issues.

I ran the trial for about a week without any serious issues and then upgraded.

I haven't, since it's mostly previous version, think Corel should add something new. Say, ability to work with LAB color space, this is available from some free RAW processors.

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
I trialled the new release for a week, but eventually downgraded back to V1, as I had so many crashes and hang-ups that it wasn't worth the effort. I'll definitely come back if Corel sort out the problems I was having in a future release.
Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
Yes and am enjoying the new 64 bit nimbleness, local contrast, & the single RAW file HDR very much. Upgrading to 8 gb RAM and downloading the latest graphics card driver (geForce GT 630M) stopped the crashes and hang ups. Perhaps the fact that I don't use Catalogs helps too? I use PaintshopPro for cataloging as it has a few tricks ASP doesn't and is fast & easy for keywording. The keywords transfer between the two programs with no glitches.
Just got back from vacation & will see how ASP handles 630 RAW files. I do have another, well-respected RAW converter, but the idea of fiddling with 630 RAW files with it is daunting. At least with ASP, I have AutoLevel or Perfectly Clear one click photo fixers -- they'll get the photo right or mostly right 75% of the time. IF you can get it to work on your computer, when you have hundreds of files to process, ASP is your friend.

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
I did but cannot use it. Unstable, slow, WB copy issue (I can live with this one), no real option for noise reduction (wavelet turns skin tones unnatural, build in is useless), no plugins for AMD64.
Now using 1.1 for studio work and now started to try Darktable. Very promising indeed!

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
I didn't upgrade. ASP 2 doesn't offer anything for my old Oly E-30 that I don't have in ASP 1.
The new noise removal tool is buggy (tiling artifacts and blotches) and not really capable compared to NN (considering that a good noise removal is essential for my RAWs); beside this it breaks the old NoiseNinja settings for no reason.
ASP 2 is crashing more often when creating thumbnails and trying to work on a picture meanwhile - ASP 1 is more stable. HDR was a nice to have (or nice to try out).
The "new" GUI isn't new but only flatter and more cluttered. Ratings and flags are way too small, filenames aren't displayed anymore without holding the mouse over a thumbnail. And still no decent multi-monitor support. *sigh*
I'll look into ASP 3 and happily pay the full price then if it meets my expectations. Until then - thank you, but no, I don't need the ASP 2 upgrade.

Not. If they release a version with Fuji X-Trans support I'll consider it, but for now I'll stick with PhotoNinja

Re: One month later: did you updrade ? …or not?
Yes.
Very happy with speed and stability - in ASP 1.2 I had every first file from sony a850 making it crash.
Very unhappy with plugins. Meaning - their absence on x64.

Yes!
Still using the old version because of plugins, so just to play around with for now.
