I am using X7 with the SP1 installed. I have a system with a NVidia card Quadro 2000 (have also a Quadro 600 for testing). Both are "Fermi" generation cards.
In my limited experience with the X7, I found out that even if I have all the hardware acceleration boxes ticked in my setup, X7 doesn't use my GPU during rendering.
I use GPU-Z as a monitor tool and there is no GPU utilization during my renderings.
Does anybody have an insight into this? Are only the effects accelerated (didn't use any for now)? Only special output formats?
VideoStudio Pro X7 - no GPU use?

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 - no GPU use?
Come on, nobody was curious to see if Corel still has working GPU acceleration? I don't see it mentioned anymore in their documentation, like it was with previous editions...
Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 - no GPU use?
I dont think VS7 uses GPU power during rendering as I have not been able to have my GPU (GTX880M) activate during rendering despite setting VS7 up to have it utilised
If your on Win 7 you could try this:
find the VS7 executable file "vstudio" on your PC (mine is in program files/ X86/ corel/corel vs ultimate)
right click on the file and you should see the option "run with graphics processor"
select your video card, open VS7 and do a test render to see what happens
cheers

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 - no GPU use?
That is needed on your laptop because of the combination of video cards and power saving features (Optimus).
I have a desktop and just the NVidia card - so it is always using that card.

So... nobody here that uses the X7 is curious about this "hardware acceleration"? Just run the GPU-Z program in the background, it will show the graphic card utilization.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 - no GPU use?
My last update to this - I just got "Pinnacle Studio Ultimate" version 17.5. Company is owned also by Corel.
In the same project - I got 25% GPU usage on my system (nVidia Quadro 2000, Xeon E5450 @ 3GHz) while exporting to HD. And of course, that came with greatly increased output speed.
I think that my old generation CPU is the bottleneck in this usage.
Limiting factor is "When editing AVC (H.264) video format and producing video in the same format".

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 - no GPU use?
I'm having the same issue. I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX860M and Videostudio Pro X7.
I assume you didn't find a solution, except moving to Pinnacle?
Disappointing.

Re: VideoStudio Pro X7 - no GPU use?
As I no longer have VSX7 installed, I cannot confirm GPU usage when rendering, I can confirm however that with VSX8 and VSX9 I consistently obtain close on 100% CPU usage when rendering complex projects and up to 30% GPU usage,(and I have 16GB available) never managed to get past that mark, but is a lot better than, from memory, what was obtainable with VSX7
