Two Versions of VS on same computer?/Updated: Install issue
In in effort to troubleshoot my issues with x4, I was wondering if I could install a previous version that worked (VS11 - yes, it worked with Windows 7) and would it have their own unique program files and not share with VX4 nor conflict with those installed files You know, independent programs?

Re: Two Versions of VS on same computer?
A number of us have quite a few versions of VS installed on the same computer -- mainly to enable us to help users with questions about previous versions. But they all work independently of each other, so you've no need to worry...

Updated: Install issues! :(
Now I've got an issue with the install of the 2nd VideoStudio (11)
"Ulead VideoStudio needs at least 200 MB hard disk free space in order to run properly." (There's 800GB available!)
I did all the steps right, including patches, I also checked to make sure there were no conflicting programs or malware issues (the comp isn't even hooked up to the 'net), ran the system file checker, checked the registry, etc.
So anything else I can check might be causing the problem?

Your profile says you have changed your system drive to 'B' - is that correct ? - VideoStudio will be looking for space on the 'C' drive.

You will see that I just locked your other identical thread as it will only create confusion. You can keep this thread open by continuing to "bump" it as you have already done. But I suspect the fact that no one has had anything further to say already provides your answer.
For my own part, I am surprised you ever got VS 11 to work with Win 7. The only thing I would try if I were trying to do that, would be to install VS 11 in XP compatibility mode, though I seem to recall you need Win 7 Pro or Ultimate to do that.

Yes, I've gotten VS11 to work on Win 7 with no problem on the same computer, both running in compatibility mode and straight window 7. I'll try reinstating it again in compatibility mode.

Re: Two Versions of VS on same computer?/Updated: Install is
Well, that didn't work - so I'm not sure what the problem is, as mentioned previous, I don't have many programs on the computer (VS x4,Video Redo,a VLC player) so I don't think it's a conflicting issue.MysticNitekatt wrote:Yes, saw you locked the threadKen Berry wrote:You will see that I just locked your other identical thread as it will only create confusion. Re: Two Versions of VS on same computer?/Updated: Install is
Hi
Although we indicate that we can install several versions without problems you should install those versions in chronological order, oldest first VS11 followed by X4.
Some files used for the programs are Common files, installing another version is gonna overwrite those files, and as you can imagine we should use the latest file versions.
So installing VS 11 over X4 may cause some problems with X4.
Can I assume you only have the two Corel products VS 11 and X4, if so uninstall both and clean the C drive of corel files, then install VS 11 run the program to test before installing X4.
If all your efforts here are trying to fix the “test before burning” issue then I think you are wasting your time.
I did mention that in an earlier post that Test Before Burning is no longer an option using the latest versions of Video Studio, last version to show the tick box was VS 5 so clearly Corel have removed that feature., having the tick box does not prove that the actual feature works, which may have been disabled in earlier versions.
Maybe I should have made these comments to your other post, -- sorry.
By the way after installing VS 11 did you install the VS 11 patches?

Not trying to resolve the "test before burning" issue as much as installing a VS that I know worked with no issues. (Don't forget that burning issue that turned up awhile back when there was none)
I don't know about the TBB feature being disabled, as if it was (with one of the patches? I never tried VSx4 without the patches) why didn't they just tell me that two years ago!
