Ubuntu 14.04 x64 AS2

Post by pgman »

Hi,

I'm trying to install AS2 (debian x64) on my xUbuntu 14.04x64 and I can't. I get the error:

Code: Select all

 aftershotpro depends on ia32-libs; however:
  Package ia32-libs is not installed.
ia32-libs has been deprecated for the last couple off versions. Any instructions on how to bypass that error.

BTW I also added:

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get update
and I still can't install with

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i AfterShotPro_amd64.deb
Thanks

From the package name I guess you are trying to install the old AS1 package.
Mine is named AfterShotPro2-2.0.1.5_amd64.deb

No. This is: http://dwnld.aftershotpro.com/AfterShot ... _amd64.deb that I renamed from the download trial: http://www.aftershotpro.com/en/default. ... Dredirects

On your hints you said:
64bit vs. 32bit:
You really do not need to use the 64bit version. AS2 does not gain anything significant in my experience.
On 64 bit Linux systems you should be able to install the 32 bit version after installing
some prerequisites without problems (works on my 64bit Ubuntu 14.04 systems).
Which prerequisites? I must be missing something.

Thanks

I wish I had written them down when I installed.

Let my try to find the box and see which 32bit libs I have on there.

Ok,
the enclosed list is the 386 packages that both my Xubuntu 64bit machines have install.
It is probably more than needed for AS. Bu I keep forgetting which of the packages triggers the dependencies and pulls in the rest.

You installed the v32 bit of AS. Correct?

Working on it.

Thanks

Yes,
as some key plugins are still not available in 64bit.

I have successfully installed 2.0.1.5x86!

I was struggling with synaptic and dpkg. No go.

Then I had the 'genius' idea for double-clicking in Thunar on the x64 debian file. It opened not Synaptic but the Ubuntu software center and it installed without any problem. It works without any of the plugins :( (except for the 2 defaults - bw & equalizer - from Corel).

Maybe you can update that info somewhere so it's searchable for other people.

Thanks for the help

dpkg does only as told, synaptic does not handle individual files....
I must admit I never used the software center.
Sounds like the first good reason to have a closer look.

thx
