PAINTSHOP PRO REGULAR BOUGHT,BUT REGISTRATION CODE NOT VALID

Post by lucianog »

Hello

I’ve bought my PHYSICAL copy of "Corel PaintShop Pro X5 Corporate and Education License Edition" on Amazon
But the installation process said my S/N is not valid! ☹
There's only a code on the CD itself and not others.
On the CD it’s the folowing code:
CPSPX5ML******
But it seems not valid.
If code is not valid, which is the right and HOW can I install Your Software that I regularly buyed??

Plus, the customer service works *only* if you register the software, but HOW I can register the software IF the registration CODE YOU write on the CD is invalid?
This service should be available anyway, I think!

Thanks
Luciano

The fact that you bought the education/business version through Amazon is a first red-flag to me.

Is Amazon an authorized education reseller? And did they ask you to provide proof of your eligibility for education/business pricing?

Ciao, Luciano! We need also to clear up something. You said:

You seem to think that this web board is run by Corel. It is not. It is -- as it says at the top of the Board -- a user to user board. It is run by other users like you who volunteer their time to help other users. None of us is a Corel employee. None of us can speak for Corel. None of us have anything to do with Corel's (terrible) Customer Service. And in this case, none of us can provide new serial numbers.

Moreover, the code you say is on the CD starts with CPSPX5ML****. This does not seem to be the type of code Corel uses for its PSP serial numbers. In my case, the serial number starts with TS16U22**** for X6, TS15U22**** for X5 and TS14R22**** for X4. At most, the CPSPX5ML**** might be a product code, but not a serial number which would be more likely to be located on the envelope in which the CD was inserted. Are you sure there is nothing starting with TS15R22 anywhere in the package you received?

If not, then all I can suggest is that you go back to Amazon and its linked supplier and ask for a correct serial number.

To Levi:

I've bought this item on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.it/Corel-PaintShop-Pr ... B0098YHNUO
Amazon didn't ask me anything, but I'm regular on education (I'm a teacher), so if they would I replied. Neither Corel installation procedure asked me anything, thought.

To Ken:

I find all this mechanism very counter-intuitive:
a) if I buy a software on a reseller, why there is a wrong serial number on it?
b) if, for a reason that i can't know, there is a need to buy something else, why there is no warning of this?
c) if that software can't work, why is on sale?
and
d) I hope that Corel scope ISN'T discouraging buyers go outside its shop channel: this would be a blind politic.

What can I say? As I already indicated, none of us here work for Corel. That includes me. I might agree with what you say, but I can't do anything about it. The only people who can are either Amazon or Corel.

Amazon sold you the product - if for any reason it does not work you must go back to Amazon - maybe ask for your money back from Amazon

Yes, I've entered in touch with a Corel customer : he said the numbers CPSPX5ML****** & LMPPSPX5MLCEEU are only part numbers for the installation disk itself, but not the license.
"Based on this, it appears that you only purchased the disk and not a license. In these cases, we can't provide a serial number since a license wasn't purchased. "

I hope this is a joke..

Nope.

Amazon is not a licensed education reseller. In order to qualify for the education license you need to provide proof of your ability to gain the educational pricing.

This is why you buy from the company, or find an authorized reseller if you're looking for the education discount and licensing. Amazon is not on Corel's list of authorized resllers, so I don't know why it's listed for Corel.

Return the product, go to Corel's site, or JourneyEd, or any of the authorized resllers listed on Corel's site.

FWIW, the version selling on Amazon's Italian site is the "Corporate" version, which I guess also covers the educational version. I note that on English language versions of Amazon, X6 is being sold for only 8 Euros more than Luciano paid for his version... but again there is no indication about a serial number!

Yes, I confirm the Ken's version: in fact on the DVD I've received there's written "Corporate and Education License Edition".

In effect in the Amazon's italian site (where I ordered) there's written only "Corporate" but it's an education license too, as I readed it on the Corel website prior of the purchase..

This might be a stupid question, but did you by chance already install a Demo version?

Insane as this sounds, I had the demo version up and working great. But when I bought the CD (which was CHEAPER than the electronic version, go figure), it said invalid S/N. When I registered it it called it "Empty Box" on my Corel registration! WTF?

And of course, there is no support for Corel, which is shockingly bad and really ruined my outlook on PSP.

Anyways guess what? I had to UNINSTALL the demo version and reinstall the exact same thing off the CD and then it worked fine. If you are trying to use your S/N on a demo/online downloaded version, it won't work. It took a while for me to find this factoid.

Sometimes when people try to save a buck by purchasing optside the Corel network they get a lemon.
I have 3 laptops, and a main desktop with 2 different start up drives (just switch the cords) for XP and Win 7. The laptops all have Win 7.
I purchased all but two from Corel and purchased 2 download versions of X6 (1 upgrade and 1 outright when the price had come down a bit). X5 as a download and disk version, X4 as disk (ebay) and download Corel), X3 disk from computer store, X2 disk upgrade and outright versions and PSP8 disk (Jasc)
I have done 5 installations of each (bought the second version so I was within the 3 installation limit) - that is X6, X5, X4, X3, X2 and PSP8 and a reinstallation of one (files became corrupted so had to reinstall Win 7 and then the programs again.
In only one of those cases did I have a problem and that was with X3 and only on the one installation on the XP computer some years back but adjusting some hardware acceleration slider allowed the install to complete.
When I hear of others having so much problems I wonder am I just lucky in my 30 installation total or are others doing something drastically wrong or have something else wrong with their systems (perhaps AV or firewall or other odd program).
I should mention that three other elderly people have also installed X4 and one upgraded to X6 with no problems.
I know this may not help solve your problems, but blaming the program for your problem may not be the solution.

In problems with download versions I woud redownload as there may be a problem with the download or it may have been corrupted while saving on your computer. Do a scan disk and make sure your computer is up to scratch.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
