Burning one hour VCD took TWELVE hours!

Post by new2va »

Running MF 3.0 SE that came with Hauppauge PVR 150. Burning two hours to a DVD takes a decent amount of time. BUT when I tried to burn a one hour program to a CD (as a VCD) it took twelve hours! What am I missing here?

System:
AMD 1.4 GHz CPU
512 RAM (PC3200)
160 GB hard drive (20 GB Windows 2000 partition/130 GB data partition)

how did you capture the videos? if you used the DVD formats in the capture step, the software may take it longer to reencode because it has to be converted from DVD format to VCD.

however, 12hrs is definitely long so i think there is a problem somewhere. have you tried the latest patch, burning engine updates?

I used the DVD Standard Play to capture the video. I will check the Hauppauge website for updates. Thanks!

Last night I recorded using the VCD option and also downloaded latest MF 3 SE. I will try to edit it (skip commercials) and see how long this one takes!

I edited out the commercials and burned the VCD to a CD. It took NO time hardly at all! SO it must have been the DVD format in the original recording that blew it away. The second time around I used the VCD format. Live and learn! :)
