Where is the audio file stored?
I am editing a music section in a video. I want to split the audio, and take the audio file out of VSx7 and into my Pro Tools studio for sweetening and then bring it back into VSx7. I have dropped existing MP3 and WAV files into video before, but never split out the audio and taken the track out to work on it in other programs, if I did I can't remember where the file is stored...when I ask VSx7 to "locate file on computer" it just shows me the video file before the audio was split, I want the audio file!

Re: Where is the audio file stored?
Assuming you have actually created a separate audio file after splitting it from the video, or even going straight to Share > Create Sound File, then the new file would normally be stored in whatever is designated as your Working Folder in Preferences > General

Ah yes thanks Ken, I used the "Share" function and made an audio file, that was what I needed. Can you remind me of the other function you mentioned first - creating a separate audio file right at the edit screen? All I seem to get is the "Split Audio" under the edit menu.

Re: Where is the audio file stored?
Well, you don't actually have to first split the audio from the video. Just have the video clip with the audio you want in the timeline (or highlight/select the clip in question) and go straight to Share > Create Audio File.

Re: Where is the audio file stored?
Can I just add - using 'split audio' does not create a separate sound file - it simply shows it a separate in the timeline - it is still firmly embedded in the video at that point.
Share >> Create audio file is the only way to get a independent audio file.

Re: Where is the audio file stored?
Hi Mark
Just to add using X7, Share - Audio will create a file of the entire project.
If you want individual audio from a specific clip you may be best starting a new project and adding one clip.
However you can use the Preview Range Only option (bottom of window)
You would have to set the Preview Range in the Edit stage before doing Share.
This web page describes http://lata.me.uk/corel/bluebar/blue_bar.htm
Created using X12 is still relevant for X7, scroll down the page to the Project Playback Range option. The line is orange using X7
Hope that helps
