I CAN NOT INSTALL NO OPERATING SYSTEM

Post by dav78 »

Hello !

I tried to install a myriad of DVDs or USB sticks Widows 7 that in the pc of my friends all go perfectly, in my case initially installing it goes, but then I get the following message:

"FILE OR DIRECTORY D: DAMAGED AND NOT READABLE.

RUN THE UTILITY 'CHKDSK "

If I install another operating system such as Linux Mint or Ubuntu are successful but when I click on Restart Now, the system will not start.

Only the mode 'Live Linux systems operating normally.

My PC is' a Dual Core AMD 2
on the motherboard GIGABYTE GA-M61SME-S2 produced in 2007- 4Gb Ram
HD 2 TB. Western Digital.

My hard disk has only one year, and then yesterday I did two tests of two different utilities, one of the Western Digital would be the house of my hard drive, and an 'other external software, all two tests with no errors .

I also run the utility 'chkdsk, no errors

And also, I did the memory test ram with MemTest86 without errors.

I await your help. Thank you!

I'm not really sure this is the sort of forum to discuss your problem which appears to be an inability to install a particular operating system rather than installing a Corel product on a particular operating system. I would have thought you might have more luck on one of the many Windows forums on microsoft.com. But I am nevertheless leaving your post here in case I have misread it or someone else can give a quick suggestion.

First off -- your error message refers to Directory D:\. Are you trying to install the operating system on your main hard drive in the computer (which normally would be C:\)? Do you have a Directory D: on the computer, either as a separate hard drive or as a partition on your main hard drive?

How many is a myriad of dvds and usb sticks?
One would assume more than one of each.
Are these legally purchased copies of windows?
I presume not, as windows is not available on memory sticks.
I would say this is most likely the problem.

Also, you cannot run chkdsk without windows being installed, so how do you do this?

I second Ken's suggestion to take this to a windows forum at community answers.

I know the OP refers to Win 7, and I am not totally sure there as I installed Win 7 from an actual disc. But I have just recently installed Win 8.1 fresh (i.e. on a virgin hard disk without Win 8 or previous OS) from a download from Microsoft. Installation was done by either copying the setup file to a USB stick drive or DVD and then inserting that into the computer where the new OS was being loaded (and having adjusted the BIOS if necessary). I chose the DVD route, but the former was certainly still a possibility. I suspect that might have been possible with Win 7 too with a setup file bought legally over the internet from Microsoft.
