In the last 24 hours Corel has posted our first update to AfterShot Pro 2. You can find version 2.0.1.5 on http://www.aftershotpro.com/en/support/updates/.

Complete release notes follow below. This first update (2.0.1.5) includes fixes for OpenCL, Local Contrast, batch preset performance, noise removal, GradFilter compatibility (32-bit), and Olympus RAW file previews.In-product notification of the new patch should start appearing over the next day or so.

Thanks, Greg. It's good to see them rolling out :-)

PS I am enjoying using the Local Contrast. It adds a certain "je ne sais pas quoi"...

I'm sorry to report I am still finding ASP2 freezes / crashes. This is an issue I have had since early ASP1, as reported to Craig and Joseph.

In particular, I notice the supposed 'fix':
"Stability issue when exporting JPEG with Local Contrast applied"
which was a serious problem for me today.

One other 'fix'
"Batch output presets – performance issue addressed"
is also involved as I was trying to output JPEGs.

Associated with this is probable Cache and Folder Refresh problems as several restarts of ASP2 did not resolve it...
I think it would help enormously to be able to reset/clear the Cache whenever we want, including every time we launch ASP.

It's not a patch but a new version of the application.

First run uninstalled ASP2.

Second run installed it again.

Grad Filter works :D

Tried the new update with Gradfilter. In the preview pane I can see the Gradfilter working but in the final jpg or tif it is not visible :(
Anyone else checked the output file?

Had to try and yes same thing no effect in the output file. So this is like reason number seven that this update is in alpha state and not even near to be published.
I'm just wondering how do they test their products?

I've just returned from vacation, so haven't had a lot of time to work with the new version of ASP2. But here are a few comments based on less than 24 hours with the new release.

1. As Tadjio reported in http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 23#p289417 ASP still freezes and crashes. Open a folder with many raw files and it's crash and burn. This is a fundamental flaw, at least on some Windows systems, that remains to be acknowledged and addressed. I don't experience this with Lightroom, Capture One Pro, ACDSee Pro or Zoner Photo Studio Pro. Yes, I know the way around this is keep fewer files in a folder, but ASP engineers, please fix this bug.

2. The blue/green preview problem with Olympus ORF raw files from the E-M1 camera has been solved. I really like the default rendering of these color files. The vibrancy is close to that of ORF files rendered by C1Pro.

3. I was pleased to see the new version contains lens correction data for two Panasonic Lumix micro 4/3 lenses I use with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera. I was disappointed that there's no correction for two Olympus prime lenses -- M.Zuiko 12mm and M.Zuiko 45mm. Hope to see those added soon.

4. The default rendering of ORF files from the E-M1 tend to produce shin on skin in some situations, but I've been able to deal with that using the adjustment sliders. I haven't had a chance to compare to similar files from my E-M5.

I also tried the GradFilter and found that the change showed up in the preview but not in the tif.

I have also found that it takes a long time to load the previews and longer to delete a master version.

So, the link in the first post still leads to having to wait between 2 and 5 hours for the download to be completed.
And it isn't because of my aDSL, since it is the same from work with 10 MB sDSL and optical fiber.
I finally found that using this link http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... id=8100079 the download time is reduced to 5 minutes. Funny.
I then could try the 2.0.1.5 and have to confirm that Gradfilter still doesn't work and behaves as described by StephanR.
Another thing that I could notice : after upgrading from 1.2 to 2.0, all my settings were overwritten by ASP2's default ones, so I had to restore them from the location I had saved them in case of such a problem.
It is not a problem anymore since I erased the folder named defaults within suportfiles, unlike the linux version, where I can't help ASP to overwrite my settings whatever I try.

J.-L.

Not for me. The previews have always the bad colors. I've tried to regenerate the preview with Alt + P but without any success.

Sadly, that is the also case for ASP2 on 32-bit linux (Mint 13, based on Ubuntu 12.04)

I still get the old version with that link.
The test version also still links to the old (32bit) rpm.

Any chance to get the new version?

Perhaps a difference in the Linux and Windows versions?
