Been using AfterShot Pro for over a year. Just purchased Pro 2 64 Windows 7 and have nothing but troubles. I can load in several hundred Canon 7D Raw files (388 exactly) and process them. But the program chokes when I try to move selected ones and OutPut them as .jpg's. The program crashes without fail. I run CCleaner to dump temp files (as Corel recommends), but no difference. AfterShot Pro is not without its crashing behaviors if I push it too hard, but I simply can't get Pro 2 to work.

Re: AfterShot Pro2 Unusable
Does it crash or just hang? If it hangs how long have you left it running before killing the process?

Re: AfterShot Pro2 Unusable
That's a good question ... it typically "hangs". I wait for up to at least 30 seconds with no results except a spinning circle. I tried moving (dragging) only one raw photo to the 72 dpi output and it opened up the "save to" screen in about 5 seconds or so. AfterShot Pro works instantaneously .... which is why I called Pro 2 "unusable" with my equipment and Canon 7D raw files. I just have to decide whether to ask for my money back or wait for a fix.

Re: AfterShot Pro2 Unusable
Do you have the latest driver for your graphics card for working with OpenCL? I had terrible crashing & hanging, but since downloading the latest driver & turning on OpenCL (Preferences...Hardware Acceleration) I haven't had any trouble. Hope this works for you.

And of course, try the 32bit version in comparison.

Re: AfterShot Pro2 Unusable
Gentlemen,
Thank you for the advice, but after downloading the latest NVIDA driver (which was overdue ... thank you) and upping the "Performance/Quality" setting from "Quality" to "Balanced" (mid setting), and rebooting the system ... AfterShot Pro 2 behaves just the same. It's like the memory management or the way it moves files around operates in slow motion. It took about a minute just to close the program after doing practically nothing with it. I purchased it for increased speed. What I got was a snail. In the bargain I lost NINJA noise, which performs noticeably better than what Pro 2 is now using. Sort of a Lose/Lose proposition. I know there must be a fix for this and I don't mind taking the blame if it's my system or pilot error, but I think I was stupid for jumping into it too early.

Those are the settings in the Nvidia manager, right? Mine was set all the way to Quality.KeithC wrote:Gentlemen,

Now back in Aftershot Pro, what are your settings for OpenCL utilization? (look in Preferences...Hardware Acceleration again). I had mine set to Low, and it worked great. (will try upping to Standard to see if ASP2/computer can handle it. I've got 8 gigs of memory, if that makes a difference.)

To awm03,
Thank you for trying to help me. I turned on OpenCL within Pro 2 at the "Standard" level, but it didn't change anything. I'm finished trying to make it work and received a refund from Corel and deleted the program. I may give it another try someday when Corel fixes it.

Re: AfterShot Pro2 Unusable
These are exactly the same type of problems I've experienced, in the same environment where ASP1 works flawlessy ( and fast!)
I even upgraded from to Windows 64bit operating system to see if this had any effect, without success.
Just tried the newest release of Version 2, starting with a new catalogue. ASP2 got halfway through creating thumbnails of the 6000 images I imported as a test, and the software hung - initially showing the endlessly rotating blue circle, then "Aftershot Pro Has Stopped Responding" message and the option to wait, or close the program. Glad to hear from Greg Wood that these problems are being looked into.
